Killing normal log fails to unlock ult difficulty if you've killed log before patch 1.2.0.0

If you kill loghorrean in normal/vet with a character that killed log before patch 1.2.0.0 and has elite, but not ultimate difficulty unlocked, ultimate difficulty is not unlocked for this character.

Expected behavior: killing log again checks for ultimate difficulty to be unlocked; if it is not, it unlocks ultimate difficulty

See patch notes:

Yes, I am aware that the difficulty unlock is not retroactive. I am claiming that there is a missing check for whether or not ultimate difficulty is unlocked on subsequent loghorrean kills AFTER the first, if the first kill occurred before 1.2.0.0.

In my view, “retroactive” simply implies that had you already killed log in normal (and not elite) before patch 1.2.0.0, you will not have ultimate unlocked. All good: the intuitive work-around would then be to kill it again. This fails.

In other words, players should not be punished for simply playing the game normally before patch 1.2.0.0; nor should they need merits. There should be a check in the game that allows you to kill loghorrean again in normal difficulty and unlock ultimate. There is not currently one.

When the expansion releases there will be players returning after not playing the game for some years. They will be excited for the new content and want to get involved in it asap. Surely including a fix for this now-outdated progress roadblock is worth it, in order to expedite the fun?

This is not a bug.
