Hi guys, i’ve been playing a ranged aether damage spellbinder and currently using a mistborn as default attack(because there really isn’t any other option:(). I feel frustrated because default attack is just too weak and not viable at all. I mainly play dual pistol or rifle and as you all know this is a weak spot for many other clasess and damage tipes. I think that adding at least more components like Shard of Beronath (with different damage tipes of course) will fix the problem. Also if anyone has advice on what to do with this problem please post.
I would love to see more options like this added. As it stands, I feel myself looking to soldier or demo (not really a shaman fan, for some reason) far too often just for cadence or fire strike when I build a melee.
We all know Crate only loves Blademaster so dont expect new DA replacers anytime soon :rolleyes:. Tbh Grim Dawn heavily favors pet builds more than anything else thats why they nerfed everything not related to pet like PB, AAR and stuffs like that. U either go for BM, Pet builds or comboes with Firestrikes or else. If u want diversity go play POE cuz atm there is no gear support for anything other than NB, Ignaffar Pet or Soldier/Demo comboes builds. Back in the days Panetti Grenado Sorc was the strongest thing ever now it cant even handle the new “colossuses” who r pretty much immune to elemental/aether making 50% of the builds in the vanilla game unplayble for the moment… I highly recommend u to go play PoE for now and wait for new patches. Right now the game is very unbalanced:(
Yep, I would love to see aether/vit/acid/chaos based default attack replacers.
If that is too much a neutral attack replacers that just has +weapon damage% and +all damage% will do.
To be honest the same problem appeared in titan quest as well. And they never fixed it. So i’m not getting my hopes up. But it would certainly be nice to have some caster weapon based auto attack like ternion in gd.
Why yes, that’s why Blademaster was heavily nerfed to the ground to the point it was near useless.
And the rest of your post, jesus. I mean, there’s opinions and then there’s outright bullshit.
Talking seriously, Ignaffar related items aren’t well designed, and the skill itself might need some dev attention too but thats another story. You will need most/all of them to get the skill to ultimate rank. And then discover they all have chaos and fire resistance only, with some physical, so you end up with 50+ overcapped chaos, 100+ overcapped fire, but struggling to even cap the rest.
Because PoE is the epitome of balance.
meh, there’s already enough auto attack builds out there. don’t see much use in adding even more. they aren’t exactly the pinnacle of creativity.
i actually hoped they might add something like weapon pool skills for spells. i think one of the dev diaries mentioned that necro would have “magic WPS” (or somethign along that line, don’t remember the exact wording) and i thought those might be WPS-like skills that can only trigger on spellcast (or maybe for channeled spells like AAR, flames of ignaffar etc.). wouldn’t be a bad thing to have - we have a few more channelled spells now.
When I played POE, and that was quite a long time ago, there were usually 3-4 top tier builds in every season, capable of farming endgame content easily. And everyone played or tried to get currency for these handful of builds. Because farming endgame is everyone’s goal in competitive arpgs and especially POE that poses as “hardcore” arpg. The so called build diversity was a joke - sure, there is some and you can play anything you want, but don’t expect to get anywhere near engame and expensive trading/crafting with your random crap build.
Now if you compare this to GD and say it has less build diversity you cannot be serious, to put it mildly.
I dunno, I think DmonBlu has a point. I thought an Ultos’ Stormseeker dropped for me this morning, but then I woke up and remembered that melee Shaman has literally zero gear support. In fact, I’m pretty sure Ultos’ Stormseekers don’t even exist. Crate should seriously do something about this.
All these conversion options AoM brings to the table are probably a good way to get a bunch of “new” default attack replacers, so at least that’s something. I really hope Mythical Chillflame Evoker makes Fire Strike blue though. I’ll cry if not.
Cmon man blademaster was never even close to useless lol. Even after 100 nerfs it was still A tier and could trash everything
Melee shaman has pretty good gear support both for epics and legendaries. Also, Ultos shamans went from good back to op as fuck with the expansion
whoosh
The same is true for poison/acid gear where 90% of epics/legendaries for acid/poison has %poison & acid resistance. For example, I have 68% overcap That is really stupid decision to think that if an item is for acid/poison then it should have %acid/poison res on it. Just can’t get it.
Yeah i have +160% or something overcapped fire resist on my bwc spamming build. <.<
The lack of new DA in the addon as well as on the two new classes was also a big disappointment to me. Hoped for some items with new DA at least…
Maybe a universal tree (like the devotions) with DA (+ passives) every class can choose from could be a good thing. So we would not be locked to low lvl items bc of the DA.
And it’s especially dumb if you have Occultist class (who is very good with Acid/Poison), cause he has +100% Poison resist just from his buff. So 70% overcap turns into 170% overcap while starving on every other resistance, which is ridiculous, really.
Often, gear decides, whether your build will be successful, or it will just suck balls.
To be fair I think this applies to most damage types, Although it particularly problematic for Occultist poison/acid builds that already have a large bonus from Aspect of the Guardian.
I know that my ranged Fire sorcerer and my cold based infiltrator has a similar problem(though not as bad as my witch hunter). There are too many thematic items that give both a damage bonus and a large resist bonus to one particular damage type with sometimes a small bonus to another resist.
Most of the time using a legendary set would solve this as they have more well rounded resists then individual items.
But for those builds that do not have a legendary set build for them or if their legendary set has sucky resists(like the Dreeg set), they need to heavily rely on double rare items + constellations +components to max them.
It’s funny, really, because I remember a time when resists weren’t so common as they are now and people complained about that and about not having resists for the damage type their builds favored the most… so, Crate made resists more bountiful AND gave resists to people’s favored damage types. And here were are again. Back to square one and people complaining about it.
They never did it. Give the patchnotes please. It 's always been stupid to put that much %acid/poison res on occultist gear. At least do not give that much of it, add some aetherial, bleeding res…
