Last Played 2014, Coming Back

Hi all. I put almost 500 hours into this game back in 2014. I stopped playing shortly after Arcanist was released. Played mostly PoE in the meantime. Other than tons of new content, is there any major changes I should be aware of?

Back then I pioneered the Nights Chill + Execute blade master build. Still have my video up https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=u9lDCD5id-M. It used 2x whatever that unique weapon with +NC and some other items to get max over leveled nights chill. Can’t remember if that was 20/10 or 22/12 or something. NC could then one tick most trash while execute would destroy anything tougher. Is this still possible in the game today?

Video is of cronleys hideout because it was one of the best spots to farm for items back then. Plus relatively safe since I played HC vet.

Shaman, Faction system and Devotion are probably all new to you then. Welcome back.

Edit: Check out Grim Misadventure #88: A Look Back at 2015 for an overview.

I remember that build.

The metagame has changed considerably. In early access it was all about AoE damage. Now, the heroes and bosses in Ultimate have such high health that it’s all about single-target damage. (There is plenty of AoE for clearing mobs.) Resist reduction and health regeneration are the other big things.

What the “best build” is has changed from patch to patch. Physical damage on gear got a (much needed) nerf somewhere along the way. In 1.0.0.5 Cadence got a big buff so 2H Cadence Warder might be the top build now but I don’t think we know yet. In 1.0.0.4 the pierce/cold blademaster descended from your build was still top by a small amount.

If you go look at the Build Compendium at Ultimate DPS Blademaster you can see the current iteration/descendant of your original build. It requires insane gear.

Thanks guys that info helped a lot. There’s really so much to soak in. Max level was 35 when I played lol.

One more question. What do you guys do about item storage now. Just make mules? I used to have a huge collection of transfer.gsh files with all of my items. They don’t work anymore, probably because of how old they are. However can I still use that technique for storage if I copy the new transfer.gsh? Mules suck lol

You can still use your old technique if you wish. There is also various programs such as GDstash which can you can use to manage your transfer files.

Coming back myself from 2013 good to be back
