Legendary drop before LVL 50?

I was just making my way through the Plains of Strife area, a LVL 49 FireStriker, minding his own business, pwning aetherial noobs and making sure to record down names, when all of a sudden, a Butcher of Burrwitch Legendary Axe just drops on the floor before my very feet!?

I thought I was of the understanding that Legendary’s only start dropping once the character LVL is 50? Or is it mob LVL of 50? I suppose that would explain the Legendary.

Albeit, a completely useless Legendary for my Dual Pistol FireStriker, still lovely to see my very first spot of purple :slight_smile:

It’s the mob level, not the char level, that drops are based on. Otherwise you could run low-level areas with a high level char and still get legendary drops :wink:

This is why you can get those lovely, lovely low level Epics at pretty absurd single digit character levels, when playing with the more ridiculous early skills re: searing ember, dreegs, etc. as well.
