Cause i can’t imagine people in they own mind who will to use this component in chest’s armor.
No, seriously, if you want more oa - then you prefer chains of Oleron, more da - hallowed ground, attack speed and vitality resistance - Kilrian’s soul.
Ballistic plating is knocked out of the series, her ridiculous bonuses and restriction on use only chest armor makes it completely useless.
But I think it’s needed for some relics, isn’t it? Maybe it should be swapped there too.
Sure if you played a lot and have plenty of the aforementioned, however, ballistic plating is far more plentiful for beginners. Therefore it is more useful for new players than using 1/4 of a component.
You cannot ask to get rid of things that you don’t need or find useless because you have been playing the game forever and may already have everything you need.
Yeah, it’s only interesting effect is 10% avoid projectiles, combined with Shroud of Illusion and Shadow Dance you can have 38+%. Low values of %dodge/avoid are irrelevant and straight out lose to DA stacking, so the only character that could make use of it has to include Nightblade.
There aren’t much of strong projectiles in GD that justify stacking %avoid projectile though. It would had been much better if it gave 10% melee dodge instead, but hey - it’s the ballistic plating.
Perhaps the ability to insert this component not only in the chest armor would give the ballistic plating “second wind”.
Just an idea.
Extremely incorrect statement about it being completely useless.
So you are totally ignoring the fact that the 3 components you are claiming can replace this one are all very hard to get and one will require multiple runs of a rouge dungeon to even attempt to get.
So what are players that don’t have hundreds of hours and all the best items stashed already supposed to do if you remove this supposedly useless component.
Please understand that the game isn’t designed just for the players with all the hours and best gear and thus items that might not have much use for a fully twinked out char are in fact extremely useful for everyone playing without uber twinked chars.
You need like 300 extra DA to achieve 10% more dodge so I don’t think a DA component is better than ballistic plating.
And that’s 10% of all kinds of dodge - melee, projectile, AOE attacks etc. Ballistic is projectile only, while I struggle the most with melee on pretty much anything I build.
And even then 10% doesn’t amount to much, dodge mechanic is highly subjective to accelerating returns, same as resistances. To rely on dodge to some extent you need it up to 30-50% coupled with other means of mitigation ofcourse. Dodge actually tramples over DA in that regard - you can hit these values with Shadow Dance and a few specific legendaries (and IIRC that’s how spellbreakers survive despite being a pretty inconsistent class nowadays), while I’ve yet to see a solid build that has enough DA for ultimate nemesises to have 70% chance to hit. E.g. my 2H builds have around 2.4-2.5k DA as a side effect of going Obelisk for extra armor, Fabius had around 87% chance to hit me.
Long story short, dodge stacking > DA stacking, but avoid projectile stacking doesn’t help much. In that regard making Ballistic Plating a leg/shoulder component would make it a fair competition against Scaled Hide/Ancient Armor Plate/Silk Swatch, but even then I’d probably prefer some of the latter.
