Level 92 MIs

Is there some sort of secret sauce/legitimate method to get highest level MIs to consistently drop from bosses? Characters are hard limited to level 100 so obviously we can’t level the character any higher than that. Even so, in my experience max level 100 characters seem to get level 92 MI items from bosses an inordinate amount of time. Sometimes even with desirable affixes – so much so that I have learned to not get excited until I have verified that the item is indeed level 94. Will the new Ascendant Mode/Altar alleviate this problem I wonder?

what it if told you, it can be 94 and still not 94 :scorv:

besides modding the game, there’s nothing really you can do, some bosses/enemies simply retain their lvl 84 MI in loot table even at max lvl version (can’t say why tho)
*it’s also not simply as the boss being in a lower max scaling area, some bosses just have different level intervals where their table changes where they couldn’t even scale that high regardless, ie needing to spawn at lvl 111 or something when regular max 110 or such, meanwhile another boss needs to be lvl 106 but happens to cap out at 105 because local basegame limit zone or whatever (ulraprax vs gollus example or something)

I know its not exactly a solution, especially if target farming from a boss in main campaign, but SR doesn’t ever drop level 92 MIs. Sucks if youre trying to farm a particular item from a boss, but even if you just roll with a lvl 92 and play lots of SR if you will eventually, hopefully, get a proper level 94 version. Trust me, I ran Bloodbriar countless times for his medal and mostly level 92s dropped. I got a Warriors of Readiness in SR a couple months later. Happened with other MIs too.

FoA should eliminate this frustrating issue with affix re rolling, hopefully its not too expensive but I’m sure Crate is cooking.

Thanks for the reply. If what you say about SR is true it seems that Crate should use that same mechanic for main campaign for – I don’t know – any character above level 96, 98? Maybe even above 90. I don’t know how SR does it but they must have some sort of level check where a level 75 character probably would not receive level 94 items. I honestly don’t know.

Well - I guess all I had to do was create a topic in the forum because this dropped just now…

First time I have ever even remotely seen ANYTHING even remotely like this. 5000 plus hours playing.

Level 92 means the base item is level 84, not 94. Affixes bring the level requirement up if they are higher level than 84.

The only way to know which MI can drop as 94 only or has both 94 and 84 even at level cap is sadly still using Grim Tools monster database and manually checking on the drops for specific MIs vs realistically achievable monster level. Absolutely no way of determining that in-game and it is also extremely inconsistent. Some MIs get the level 84 drop removed even before you hit level 100, some retain them even if monsters could level to like 110. My go-to example is Voldrak vs Mogara MIs:

Voldrak - drops only level 94 starting from monster level 98
Mogara - will drop both level 84 and 94 until monster level 111 (impossible to breach). Also, the 84 version has a 44.44% chance of dropping and the 94 version a 55.56%.

Because reasons I guess. It would make too much sense if it was 50/50 apparently.
