Leveling a Druid

Hey guys!

I wasn’t sure if I should write it here or in the classes and skills forum, but thought I’d write it here first.

A week ago I finally got the DLC’s and since then I tried to decide on a class to play.

Currently I got a arcanist at lvl 42, bin I feel like im slowly hitting a wall. I’ve been leveling with OFF and TSS up until now (got a few nice items for for OFF too), but it feels like its useless against bosses and the normal mobs are starting to outlive my damage too. The energy regen is not that great too (probably fixable with ectoplasm).

Since in the long run I plan on playing Druid (TSS and Totems version), I’ve been wondering about switching to shaman and level with Wind Devil and Totems.

What do you think? Would it be easier to level as shaman, or should i stick to arcanist for the time being? Maybe reroll AAR? (i’ve even have the gear from FG and got a really good rolled offhand too).

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I would level with totems and wind devils for sure! Farm a yeti horn to cast wind devils more quick. For arcanist just keep some OFF, mirror and maiven sphere

Only 6 devotions points? I don’t remember well but shouldn’t you have more at this point?
Do you check the World Map for shrines?

Elemental Storm from Rhowan’s Crown would boost your damage greatly. I would spec out from Tsunami and go toward this constellation when you have more points. You need like 11 in total to get Elemental Storm (Quil + Scholar + Purple + Elemental Storm). And then full Crown because it has great static bonuses. You need Resistances Reduction especially since you started with Arcanist.

I wouldn’t switch completely to Shaman, stick to your build but maybe

I also don’t see almost any augments / components in your gear, i.e. Coldstone

These things are more that enough to boost your DPS, no need to completely change the build and play i.e. Totems / Maelstrom.
You just need to pay more attention to details / basics / Math.

Thanks a bunch for your reply!

I do have 13 or 14 spare devotion points and since I didn’t really know where to invest, I kept them unassigned.

I also didn’t bother with augments and component’s to be honest. I think im just a bit overwhelmed with everythin, but I will look into both, as well as filler abilities.

Thanks! And also thanks to Ulvar1 for gearing tipps

Since you have so many points don’t spec out from Tsunami like I said earlier. You have more than enough for the Elemental Storm.

OFF is in fact useless against bosses. It’s a popular leveling skill (though I don’t see the appeal) but bosses have high freeze resistance.

General point - the rule of thumb is that you want your hit points to always be at least Level*100, and you’re way short of that, playing single-mastery. Most of your resistances are really low, too. Gear components will help with that.

My TSS character (Spellbreaker) had energy issues around this level as well. It will pass as you get more spirit (mastery bars and Inner Focus). Gear will help; that’s a neat shield, but in the long run you’ll probably want a caster off-hand instead. Until the energy situation resolves itself, potions are plentiful and fights are short, so you should be able to muddle through that way.
