You have to go on through elite, and yes, your first character through elite will feel pretty rough, as you have pretty much no gear for them. I pretty much never stay in normal past 55, you are hitting the XP cap for most areas and get near no progress. You will get about 15-20 levels over the course of Elite, and then ultimate will eventually cap you.

A good way to get fairly reliable gear, that is pretty decent, is to farm faction rep to at least Honored in normal, and use the augments on your rings and weapons, and use the armors and jewelery from them as very reliable power boost. Also make sure you get EVERYTHING you can in normal, especially all 28 devotion shrines. It’s free stats, make sure you use em to get an edge on your build.

Elite is your best option. Just do the quests and you should level pretty quickly. If you are having trouble surviving, farm merchants for resistance/hp gear.

I went into elite right at lv50 and I survived. All you really need to do is make sure your top row of resists are at >25% and you should be just fine. For reference I’m a chaos/fire warlock and I made Conflagration before going to elite; turns out giant laser beams make short work of zombie packs.

Would really have to know more about your build and direction before advising you well. My first playthrough had no problems with elite/ultimate, so I imagine the issue falls somewhere in the two areas previously stated.

The area level cap is 50 in normal and 70 in elite. So the highest level bosses will be about 60 and 80, respectively. So you won’t level much past that.

Normally you would transition into Elite at that point. Normal Log is harder than Elite Warden so you should be ok to get there. I generally find that Elite is very easy and I just blow through it up to Log (who is completely out of proportion to the remainder of Elite). If you are having trouble them maybe your builds are not very good. Pick the character you like best and post your grimcalc so that we can give specific suggestions.

Considering your question, I assume you play softcore.
You can get a huge damage boost, if you place all your
devotion points in the right way. For softcore this means,
you dont have to consider survivabiltiy in a essential way,
so every devotion point could go into damage.
Devotion = damage and game-progress speed.

The bonus-merchant in homestad sells pretty good rings, amulets
and medals. Visit him regularly.

Veteran = LVL50
Elite = LVL50~75
Ultimate = LVL75~85

Explore all the areas should be enough to cap lvl. Elite and Ultime will be considerable slower than normal because the first few characters dont have good gear but you shouldnt be surprise that as high you go the slow it gets to lvl its that way for all rpgs

  • You’ve reached the XP cap for normal difficulty
  • There are two more difficulty levels
  • You want to keep leveling
  • What do?

This should not be a question that requires community input.

If you need specific help building/gearing your character for elite, post details and ask for feedback. There are plenty of jumpstart builds that can step into Elite with no twinking needed; level 50 faction gear from Legion or Outcast may be helpful depending on what your character is doing.

If you’re playing a dual wield char just farm the dermapterans for lvl 52 at the royal hive, stack resitances and elite will be like a breeze.
