Quick question. I’m wondering if % bonuses to life leach in constellations, such as +30 % life leach damage in the bat constellation are applied to the
xx % of attack damage converted to health
stats that can be found on some spells such as sigil of consumption.
Also, on the same node in the bat constellation, you get a supplementary % of attack damage to health. If the first bonus applies to such effects, then how does it interact with this second bonus ? Is the second bonus first added to already existing % attack damage converted to health and then the total is incremented by 30 % from the first bonus or how does it work ?
So, if life leach an ADCTH are different mechanics, then i suppose life leach only works on non spell effects like melee and ranged weapons attacks and ADCTH is the spell version of this while resistance to is applied to both effects ?
In the case described, i guess the second bonus (3 % ADCTH) would just be added to the already existing % number of the sigil of consumption skill then ?
Both “X life leech” and ADCTH are weapon effects. This means they are applied only to skills that deal weapon damage, and their effectiveness is determined by %weapon damage the skill inflicts (ADCTH effectivness is capped at 1x"original value", though.
I’m sorry, but that’s just very confusing to me. If you look at the exact description of sigil of consumption, it says :
Creates an occult sigil on the ground that consumes the life-force of enemies caught within it’s power, returning a portion of the damage dealt as health to the Occultist
and in it’s statistics, it literally says :
XX vit damage XX % Attack damage converted to health
So, how can ADCTH then only be a weapon effect ? It appears in the description of a spell that does not have % weapon damage listed in it’s effects and only deals flat vitality damage. Are you saying the vit damage is dealt as weapon damage ? That doesn’t seem right to me
When ADCTH is found in skill’s description, it’s applied to whole direct damage dealt by skill. Otherwise, it’s a weapon effect. Sure, to be consistent, Crate should use some another decription, to make it different.
But GD has many inconsistences in decriptions. Damage, added to weapon, has the same description as direct skill damage, etc.
Ok, so, found this in the game guide just before you posted the same thing :
Percent of Attack Damage Converted to Health is a form of life steal available in Grim Dawn. It functions differently depending on whether you find it on equipment or on a skill. When on equipment, life steal applies only to your weapon attacks. If you use a skill with % Weapon Damage, that component of the skill benefit from the life steal. In either case, only the direct damage is considered for life steal. Damage over Time, such as Bleed or Poison, does not trigger it.
When found on a skill, Percent of Attack Damage Converted to Health applies to all of that skill’s direct damage.
Conclusion :
So, clearly, what you were talking about is ADCTH found on equipment, but this is actually case 3. ADCTH not from equipment, nor from a skill, but instead from constellations.
So, the question becomes, if listed as a constellation bonus, does ADCTH get added to ADCTH on skills or ADCTH on weapon damage or both ?
Anything found on constellations is similar to found on gear. Same for buffs, like Bloodthirster. Why i should repeat myself?
Anything, that is found on (non-buff) skill, is applied to skill’s effects only. ADCTH, resistance/armor/DA reduction, even damage itself - they all are weapon effects. But when found on skill, they apply to skill’s use, regardless of weapon damage. ONLY when found on skill.
