Ixillor’s Rageflame is an item that was never mentioned on this forum outside of trading threads.
It was never praised, but at the same time never complained about.
And I had never seen anyone using it in their builds, at least not the high end ones.
Perhaps this item needs a little of limelight?
What’s your opinion of this item?
Do check the poll
I say this with 100% confidence: I’ve found more helpful things while performing a digital rectal examination than when I first found this item in GD.
EDIT: It’s so bad it’s overlooked to the point where people don’t even THINK to complain about it.
Just after taking a look on that item, it doesn’t provide anything interesting. It would be better to get a green item instead. Max. 7% crit damage, kind of low % damage, and then Callidor’s tempest and FoI support. Why would you go FoI on Arcanist/Inquisitor build? There’s plenty of other support for that. Callidor’s Tempest is better with Agrivix/Iksandra set (both tested by me few months ago). This would be way better for anything else. Or Cataclysm set (I’d rather go TotAW, Beronath’s Peerless Eye [or Essence] and +1 to skills in belt at this point).
So yeah, either this item gets some cute buffs or it’ll stay outclassed by many other items.
This sums it up neatly. It’s the ultimate placeholder item, every single stat it has is done better by dedicated sets or even generalist items like cataclysm off hand.
At least it makes for a cool illusion. And it only buffs skills that begin with “In”, which is, uh, cool, I guess.
But nope, never found a use for it whatsoever. :undecided:
I decorated my rubbish bin with that item. Looks dope, not gonna lie.
Gotta love the smell of burning trash in the morning.
So no hope for Rageflame?
Never used it on any of my builds, then again I haven’t considered a Burn or Fire build in a long time .
I’d likely use something else though - Consumption of Agrivix and Zarthuzellan’s Codex come to mind for Callidor’s Tempest or BWC respectively. Not sure what off-hand is best for Flames of Ignaffar.
Don’t know how I would improve it, my best guess though is a re-imagining by replacing the proc with a unique skill modifier to give it it’s own niche. Probably something wacky like Aether FoI.
If illusions count, then yes. A lot of offhands clip with outfits that have long overcoats, and the rageflame looks stylish and avoids that specific issue.
Voted no.
The only (semi) interesting thing about it is the +3 to Inferno, but then Mythical Consumption of Agrivix is infinitely better.
No, illusions do not count.
This skill is just too weak. 133 fire/aether damage per second for 4 seconds isn’t that great. Alkamos’ rings deal way more damage at this point, or at least are way more efficient. An off-hand should, somehow, show that it is useful - this one just tells us to leave it alone. If it was unique in a way, for example huge cool down reduction (25+%) or the proc did something more than just doing damage (remember it’s an off-hand which is outclassed by a pair of rings). Literally every other off-hand has something that you’d consider using, even this thing would be useful in a way (12 - 18 crit damage, wow), could be used for burn builds, if we have Arcanist and want a pure caster. With Ixillor you’re like “OH DAMN I’M GONNA USE IT… I’LL DO A BUILD THAT… THIS OFF-HAND IS GOOD FOR… WELL IT SURELY IS GOOD FOR SOMETHING BUT I’M GONNA MAKE ANOTHER BUILD UNTIL I DON’T THINK ABOUT ANYTHING GREAT! One year later OH DAMN THIS ITEM AGAIN I REMEMBER WHEN I WANTED TO MAKE A BUILD WITH IT! I’M GONNA THINK OF SOMETHING NOW! go back to the start of the caps lock message”. So basically I doubt anyone will say this item is good when we have all other off-hands that do something unique, while this one stays there doing nothing and wanting us to use it.
Huh… So uhm… I don’t like that but it looks okay.
That’s fine by me, my man. I just like 2H casters because all I aspire to be in life is this:

He’s… Holding the sword with one hand.
Even a two handed sword can be light if hold in such position.
Physics, dude, physics!
Do you not see those biceps and delts? He could hold his own self up in the air with just the one hand.
Nope…
That hell tome or W/E was a weak proc as well
