Limits of a Glass Cannon?

The issue here is that most procs are % Health Reliant, and if you don’t binge on health stats or Physique, you’ll never get them to proc before you’re instakilled.

sure it is just a better option. If you like to challenge yourself you can put points into Spirit/Cun : )

At 40 %?
Okay, I can´t say for sure, never had really low defense. But then, SB has another 2 active “Oh Shit”-Buttons, another one with consumable (Aether Cluster). That´s the price for being a glass cannon imho.

This is pure lie and nonsense argument.
In a group, just even buffer works great lol. Just have blood of dreeg, wendigo totem, mog pact and curse of frailty maxed. You will carry the team. It is very weak argument because being helper in a group just does not show or prove anything in this SP game.

You can not just kite some bosses. All are immune to slow, freeze or whatever you call cc. Tell me a glass canon build against iron maiden - fabius? Iron maiden is unstoppable, no cooldown charge or very low cooldown stun. You are dead in 10 sec with even cb. When you are stuned or petried, you can not use so called circuit breakers.

So again there are no glass canon builds in GD just squishy ones. You are either tank or half-tank.

In standard all i play is glass cannons so I have no idea what you are talking aboot. Hardcore you cant risk dying so yes you will build more tanky if you are playing solo. Nothing you added changes that glass cannons work just fine in this game. Playing solo hardcore as a glass cannon with 100% success rate would again mean the game is to easy and no one would play it.
If you want to be a glass cannon in hardcore like I said play in a group or get better at the game.
All real players who play glass cannons expect to die at some point, so expecting to play glass cannons in solo hardcore play is just asinine.

From one of my friends, who doesn’t care to get into GD too much after a single Normal/Veteran playthrough, for multiple reasons:

We have this conversation a lot about a lot of games. I do agree that being unable to kite or control any and every enemy in the game severely cuts down on character design. I also believe that the same applies to the fact that enemies, by and large, essentially just get in your face and that’s it, that’s all they can do. The vast majority of enemies in Grim Dawn are melee-based and, as consequence for being too weak otherwise, need some means to approach players rapidly so as to pose any semblance of a threat at all. Of course, that means of approach again crushes any hopes of character gameplay diversity.

I blame the engine moreso than anything else, really. The TQ/GD Engine is extraordinarily unimpressive when it comes to AI configuration and skill usage, meaning there’s really only so much Crate can do to keep things interesting.

Proof of concept pls. Link a video. In video show first page of character sheet and obliteration of hard bosses in ultimate…
I think you label half-tanks as glass canons. Your character is not as glass canon as you think

No one is asking for 100% HC success rate, just that it should be just as possible as half-tank builds.

Half-tanks don’t get 100% success in HC also and finishing all content on HC is possible for them.

IMO half-tanks and tanks shouldn’t get so much damage as they have, and GC should have better defenses that reward skillfull play.

He uses a few potions but still considered a glass cannon

I’ll post my own glass cannon builds after the expansion is released as I already deleted every thing when I got a new PC. Wanted to start from scratch with expansion and figured since I was re-building my PC, I just would delete them now since I’m playing POE again anyways. And I only made videos of my Hardcore characters and they weren’t glass canons.

The other way is to go dualwield and learn to kite (use stand still and attack in the desired direction). The game used to be real hard just before the release of the game and I learned to kite that way.
Gameplay wise you could try a blademaster and use 2 mobility skills. Or do a Spellbreaker and use Mirror/Shadow Strike. You also get pneumatic burst for healing to recover quick from a blow and Balde Barrier (i never use that one though). That’s the best you can get based on what you want gameplay wise. I mean if you don’t like the current mechanic and prefer mechanic from another game then fine. I played arpg since D2 and for me GD is a better version of it with more theory crafting.

Video of a glass cannon in action:

/s

8 potions/elixirs? Some add %25-30 resistance (total of around %125 res gap closed). Just low hp does not mean it is glass-canon. I didnt see da and resistances also.

He uses the resits elixirs as he doesn’t max out his resits on his gear as he concentrates on Offensive procs. If you are expecting to see a character that has -50 resists then yes you are right they don’t exist. The game expects you to have reasonable amount of resits by time you enter Ultimate and is partly balanced around this.

Well what you have in mind is more like an old lady with osteoporosis than a glass cannon and she can’t be expected to survive a second at a post Grim Dawn Cairn.

Can’t wait for people to ask to be able to beat Ultimate in HC while naked, no attribute points and no mastery bar points.

truer words have never been typed

I was thinking the same thing

No i don’t. I expect “not max resists” and “da around 1800”. Please dont throw assumptions from your as*, thanks.

Also the guy in the video is not even cannon. DPS sucked hard. Please rephrase and learn the terms and come with valid proofs.

Perhaps I´m totally wrong but when I watch this video I see “player skill”.

I won´t clear PV with only 7.000 HP regardless of the DPS. My runs there seem endless compared to this one.

Edit:
When his DPS suck then mine…do what?
He doesn´t have max resist before consumables therefore he invested everything (Gear/Devotions/Skills) for Offense.

Fine the build is just glass which makes my point even more that glass cannons are just fine in this game.

But thats not glassy enough for people. Naked is the only true acceptable Glass builds.

chuckles
