Welcome to the forum Elleyra. I like figure skating too - watching, not doing though. Bit too old for that now even if I did know how to skate - which I don’t!
I like watching and doing. You can learn it with any age. More or lees. I know a girl she began with the age of 28 and learned all double jumpes.
Another Woman learned most of the important dance moves with a age of 42 and she is so beautiful on the ice. Some boys (man) managed the same. it just depents on how much energie and love you invest in that sport. <3
The freesports Community for Figure Skating becomes more and more stronger. <3
I agree with their comments on the technicalities of figure skating these days. A lot of the grace and beauty of it has gone now, it’s looks more like how many things can we cram into 3-5 minutes of skating and that’s it. And as for the new scoring system making things more transparent - what a joke! The only thing it’s done is hide who’s giving their old cronnies vote to which country. The whole judging system is rife with it, even after the Salt Lake Olympics fiasco.
Some changes in the Skating are good. Like more possibilitys in the Music and that we dont need to see always the same duty. On the other hand “duty” is very importat to train and to become better and it seems that some trainers dont pay enough attention to it. And you can see that in the end.
The new Judging system seems little overloaded but i cant say how much better the old was, cause i was not that present in figure Skating 10 years+ ago.
I realy like to see free shows cause the Skaters are not bound to a ruleset and have as many time as they want. I think you can see the full potential of a ice Skater in that Shows. <3
