Living Shadow (Last node in Unknown Soldier)

I have been testing this and their damage just does not look like it is worth putting a point into it. I see them hit for less than 2k way too often.

10/10

Living Shadow Abilities:
Shadow Strike
1739-2679 Piercing Damage

Shadow Blades
1332-1974 Piercing Damage

The skill says that Living Shadow should scale with my damage bonuses. I have +1169% Pierce Damage. The Living Shadow either does awful awful awful damage and makes this skill worthless or the base damage needs a good buff for a skill that requires 29 Devotion points to get.

I get more damage output from Blades of Wrath in the Assassin constellation. With Blades of Wrath at 10/15, it does 1792-2236 Piercing with a 100% chance to pass through enemies and a 2 second cooldown. There is a little more to Blades of Wrath but I am looking at the Piercing Damage. If I choose to get this one earlier in the Devotion setup, then I do not even need to bother with Living Shadow (which appears to hit like it has a wet noodle in its hand).

Tier 3 Constellations are bad weaker than everything else?

Stop the presses! We’ve got some breaking news here!

I’m very sarcastic today, sorry. :frowning:

Well, considering they were supposed to have been the most heavily buffed of the offensive constellations in the latest patch, I am surprised to hear that tier 3 powers still aren’t worthwhile. I guess they need to be buffed even further?

There are actually several quite good Tier 3 Constellations procs. Healing Rain, Blind Furry, Tainted Eruption, and likely Hungering Void at least.

Also some really weak ones though, if you think Living Shadow is bad you should try Spear of the Heavens! (in all seriousness don’t try it, it might be good if it were an offensive proc but as a single target ‘when hit’ effect it leaves ALOT to be desired.)

Edit: Although if you are pierce based the Unknown Soldier constellation as a whole is still good for the passive bonuses, and the proc is better than nothing if you have a free place to put it…

The entire constellation is VERY nice except for the last skill. Living Shadow is nearly useless. It needs a buff to the base damage.

As stated above, the first six nodes of the constellation are good, it is the Living Shadow itself.

Having used Hungering Void, I’m really not impressed. Though that may be due to a lack of synergy with Chaos skills, which could be fixed via a new mastery in an expansion.

Ah, it was the one of the lot I hadn’t used but it looks good on paper. Still likely a strong constellation (nearly 400% vit/chaos damage and all that crit damage in a constellation that still leaves room for healing rain  )

I use it on my 2hand warder, it seems pretty great but he’s already a rape train so it could be hard to tell.

I use Living Shadow and don’t even notice them to deal any damage. Maybe they can kill one or two monsters if those monsters are weak enough ) I just like seeing them running around

I use them in the Bleeding Heart build… they really arn’t too terrible… to do tank but yea… still pretty terrible.

They are okish but not for ~30 devo points. That is too much for their lousy damage
