Looking for a Phantasmal Blades build

Hi guys. You’re all way smarter than I am when it comes to how this game works. I have a couple questions:

  1. How does the transmute on Phantasmal Blades work? I understand it is “100% Piercing damage converted to Vitality damage.” Does this mean I want Piercing or Vitality damage on my gear?
  2. Which class does Phantasmal Blades synergize best with? I’ve played it with Arcanist before (when that build was decent, maybe 2 years ago?). What damage type am I focusing on?
  3. Is there any build in the current expansion which works well with PB? I know we’re in early theory-crafting with the current expansion, just curious if some of you smart folks have gotten way ahead of me on this.

Also worth noting that I love the idea of 1H+OH with this build. But yeah you tell me. Thanks guys.

witch hunter / reaper are best for vitality spam cast

infiltrator is you wish to go the cold route… (more gear dependent)

or the spellbreaker for cooldown/cdr cold caster

Thank you for the feedback. Can you please expound in some way to help with build understanding? There’s a lot of new stuff going on in this patch that I haven’t explored yet and probably stuff from the last patch, too.

When you say spam cast, I’m thinking cast speed, which works well. When you say CDR, I dunno how that applies to a skill that has no CD. Maybe the issue is wanting the transmute in the first place - that may be what I’m trying to figure out. I know what I want to do, but I don’t know how to do it.

You need cdr for other skills, like heals and buffs etc

You are kind to tell me these things, but can you teach me like I don’t know anything? Which heals and buffs? What’s the build that excels with PB at its core?

In case of the spellbreaker, it is Mirror of Erectoes (immortal skill), Pneumatic burst (heal skill) and possibly also hour glass (devotion skill) that you want to get low cooldown on.
