I’ve worked on several “test” mods to get familiar with the tools. Now I think that I’ve quite a good level to pretend working on something.
But, after a couple hours of making a new campaing I realized that I was not having in mind a good story, what I was writing was bad and had no sense at all or was coming from books I had read.
So I’m looking for a good story to make become a new campaing for Grim Dawn. If I have to create some models for this it won’t be a problem as far as I and some friends master 3d conception (textures are going to be a bit more difficult but I think that I already know someone who could help me).
Note: don’t come with a dragon idea or something to big (intermediate skills not high level can do an elve, a turtle, a centaur, but creating something really big will oblige me to work on for a too large amount of time).
So if u’re a writer or if you know something (a historical, mythological, real story) that could be fit what I’m looking for answer this topic or pm me.
I’m not a writer of any kind, but try reading the lore in Grim Dawn and maybe that can help inspire you? And I would start out small, like a quest or two, and then work your way up to a full act. Anyways, good luck.
Hello. I have an idea-I’m wanting someone or myself to make a Zelda version of Grim Dawn. It’d be interesting. If you want specific, reply. On the other hand, let me go find something…
This has so many things going for it. Hell, if we have access to EVERYTHING, why not change everything. Location names, character names, item names…
Somebody could even change the music if they wanted too.
There could be a set called “Sole Survivor”, and the description could read: “All but one Knight fell to the Demon King, he fled the battle, wearing this exact set of amour”. And it would be a Legendary set.
Also, would you be able to customize your character? Like make them big or small or young or old?
Some Item names:
The Demon King’s Trident (Legendary)- “Hundreds of men died on it’s prongs”
The Blunderbuss of Kings (Legendary) -“A certain reptile owned this…”
The Sword of Hyrule (Legendary) -“Once known is the Blade of Evil’s Bane, this sword was thought to be lost. The Master Sword was wielded by most of the Knights who rose up and defeated the Demon King, then put to rest again. Part of the Sole Survivor set.”
The Hero’s Shield (Legendary)- “This artifact was counterpart to the Sword of Hyrule. It could block any projectile and was indestructible. Maybe that’s why it’s still around… Part of the Sole Survivor set.”
There you go. Have fun.
You wake in a graveyard, surrounded by a circle of salt, mouth full of dirt and wilted flowers in your hands. Check your inventory and you’re wearing a wedding ring and a sword engraved with runes you know intimately but can’t read. There’s a picture in your inventory of you - you know it’s you because of the sword - flanked by a man and a woman. (Depending on character gender/selected orientation [could be worked in via a quick question when you first enter the scenario] this can be either your brother and your wife or your sister and your husband)
You need to find them more than you’ve ever needed anything before in your life.
Oh, and you’re surrounded by the walking dead, protected only by the salt. Good luck with that.
I can’t find my files, I had a few ideas saved on my PC but I have no idea where they are. Lol.
Here is an outline of what I can remember (it was a story idea for TQ),
*spawn in tomb - walk out and find some loot in the coffins.
*make your way out of the tomb (which was a big fancy area just for you and a few others) and find a few monsters
*walk through a dark forest, again, monsters.
*find a massive gate that leads to a city, they won’t let you in til you clear some grand necromancers in caves
*clear areas, they let you in and tell you they still need your help
*Neighbor city is under attack by (more) necromancers, they are being led by some kind of liche king. (not like arthas, a full blow living undead liche)
*journey to the city, kill the monsters bla bla
*City is completely annihilated, and the dead(and living dead) litter the area
*A survivor crawls out of some rubble once you clear a corner of the city, and informs you that the liche did this with his awesome powers and he stole an ancient relic.
*Follow the clues to find the liche, meet a hermit witch who claims to know his plans and where he will take his relic.
*Clear a cave which descends several levels and find the liche at the bottom. He will fight the player and have a really fun boss fight. Spawns skeletons, teleports to a center zone where he will be invincible and fire slow moving orbs at the player. after killing the spawns, he appears again and can be hit. Does this every time he loses ~1/4 hp and when he first spawns.
after defeating him, he teleports to the center again and opens a rift and escapes to a demon realm (chtonic?). The witch then teleports to you, and opens a rift to follow him, assuming she knows where he went.
New area is a dark town, demon infested city. It’s a city full of corpses and undead and stronger demons.
*Create a path of bodies, slaying all enemies and as you attempt to leave the city, a skeleton boss rises from the ground and fights you.
anything sound any good? I can keep going I have more in my head but if you don’t like the outline style then… oh well that’s all i’ve got. Just fill in the blanks!
You wake up in a massive prison and discover that several other NPC’s are with you as well from the usual campaign. The returned Aetherial spirit who possessed Warden Krieg now believes that it is the true Warden Krieg and manages to take back Devil’s Crossing and several other protected areas by using spies to open up the riftgates for recapture by his aetherial minions.
Within the massive dungeon/fortress which Krieg has created (since some time has passed since your last confrontation) there is a sudden disturbance of aetherial energy creating seismic activity allowing for escape from your initial cells (told via dialogue - you can see corpses of both prisoners and guards who were destroyed in the debris).
Now it is time to search for Warden Krieg, discover what evil machination he is now up to that would cause such powerful aetherial reactions (if he is indeed behind it) all the while dealing with both the Warden’s guards, captains, mad scientists and other imprisoned creatures that may now be roaming free.
Level Design
Interspersed Dungeon/Prison with outside courtyards/ramparts as some walls may have been impacted by the aetherial driven earthquake giving access to outer areas. Laboratories may also be found with what creatures that were experimented on. Could also add some puzzles when it comes to searching for keys that may be needed for your journey + aetherial monstrosities could also have a part in puzzle elements when it comes to defeating or avoiding them. The Warden resides in a keep/fortress like structure in the middle of the map (so you have to go all around the keep to gain access to the keep itself).
Location
You find out from some of the npcs that this massive prison is far north of Burrwitch Village beyond the mountain range where Warden Krieg’s old laboratory is located. There are also rumors of rising Cth’onic activities led by one named Salazar (assumed alive and more powerful - since main campaign doesn’t deal with killing him) who may not be working alone.
edit: I was considering starting this myself but am already busy enough as it is - might be interested in helping out with level design perhaps.
One of my preferred ways to interact with anything, Elite killer, is to take from an existing story and make of it something more. So, in the story-sense, you could make a rendition of the initial Aetherial Siege on Erulan, the ‘War in the North’ that we know so very little about (Captain Somer dialog), or the ‘last time’ the Cult of Ch’thon tried to summon the Loghorrean (Inquisitor Creed dialog).
