How do you approach creating builds?

Hey there, wanted to discuss the title. I’m at the point when I’ve leveled quite a few builds found here on the forum, ranging from the top20 to the silliest memes someone put in the comments to a random thread not even in “classes, skills and builds” forum category. And something in-between. Also I believe I have at least somewhat okay~ish “reading comprehesion” to the point that I can tell what’s going on by just looking at grimtools of a build.
