I’m leveling a conjurer at the moment that will focus mainly on bleeding damage with some vitality thrown into the mix. The main damage skills I’m using are Grasping Vines, Devouring Swarm and Bloody Pox with Falcon Swoop, Rend and Blind Fury from Devotions.
I have a few questions that I’d appreciate some guidance around:
I’m trying to decide between Possession and Primal Bond for my exclusive skill. I understand that Primal Bond augments my main damage type but Possession looks like it provides a bit more utility. It will also take less points to get to from Black Death than the final Grasping Vines node in Shaman so there is that.
I’m heading for Blind Fury in the Oleron constellation and I’ll test it when I get there but does anyone know if it works for casters? Or just Melee?
If anyone has any general feedback it would also be appreciated.
This is what I’m aiming for currently if you’re interested
Landed in the same boat after levelling a vitality caster. There seems to be gear supporting the concept along the lines of fiendscale jacket and such.
Added to the fact the conjurer can break bleeding resistance better than any other class between curse and swarm.
So far I haven’t been able to make it click. Going the pox route, you really want fevered rage to speed things up, but it gets exciting fast on elite doing that, especially if you’ve sacrificed your vitality tanking to make that bleeding work. I imagine that the constellation pics and some gear might make the thing work.
As to the choice of exclusive, I don’t know. It would seem that possession offers more utility in general for this class, but if you really want to squeeze every last DPS out of your bleeds then Primal Bond would be the preference.
P.S. Don’t stress Oleron. If I recall correctly I am pretty sure you can affix him to any of your important skills (besides curse of course). I’m sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.
I just finished Ultimate with a similar build and had no problems, so don’t let the naysayers get you down. I never used Oleron so can’t comment on it. I didn’t use Pox either as DS and GV with Rend and FS never really gave it a chance to develop in my opinion. Here is my final without bonuses in case your interested. grimcalc.com/build/Fq1Yef
Just for giggles I played around with my work in progress vitality conjurer. Basically dropped sigil and destruction and shifted those points over to pox/wasting with a point in black death to reap bonus points for fiendscale. Also took fevered rage then assigned wendigo’s mark to pox.
Just happened to be starting Arkovian Undercity in Elite. So skellies… good test of bleeding.
Character is murdering everything. No exaggeration. He’s actually drain tanking better so far. By a lot. Great fun and a different play style for sure.
Will keep toying with this (now I need to find bleeding/vit gear instead of the ubiquitous vit/chaos combo.)
You will end with mostly gear favoring “hard” vitality damage (3-21) and percent based vitality damage (%65)
The same is true for Relics
Completely forget about chaos damage! You have skills that can reduce vitality and bleeding resistances of enemies alot, but NONE to reduce chaos resistance! So, pumping into chaos damage is a total waste (very own experience with my own conjurer)
Don’t let any DPS values shown in the UI fool you! for example: With Curse of Frailty + Devouring Swarm I reduce vitality resistance of mobs by more than a 100%, which means ALL my vitailty damage goes through fully. Yet, if I exchange my current Soulbearer with Damnation or this totally bad “Fang of Ch’ton”, the DPS shown is way higher. Fact is: they both totally suck for my build (one has physic as main, the other chaos as main)!
Hopefully it helps the OP too. (So is a phys/cunning bleed conjurer viable in ultimate? Couldn’t you stack a lot of bleeds via summons as well, and just max PHYS?)
I don’t see why it shouldn’t be a viable build.
You can chose other DEVOTIONS to get tons of bleeding damage out of a Conjurer. Look for the Fox devotion for example. And there are other devotions helping in pumping up bleed/phys damage.
I went for vitality as main damage, simply because I made me a “vitality puncher” = going melee and facetanking alot. Without the many “attack damage to health” devotions/procs I would die within 2-3 seconds.
I highly advice to atleast pump 20 points into Spirit, or you will “dry out” your energy with your own Auras very fast.
