Looking for tips / tweaks - DW Dagallon Purifier

Hi folks,

With the changes to Dagallon’s set, I thought I’d try out a DW purifier build. Getting close to 100, this is what I have so far:

Working through Act 2 Ultimate. Survivability is pretty good. Mandates have me revered with all factions (went with Kymon’s). Feels like a walking death machine so far.

Probably going to look for Hands / Shoulders of Justice for the 2 piece. Pants need some work.

I was wondering a few things:

  • Is overcapping WPS skills necessary or can I re-distribute some points elsewhere?
  • How high do I need to take Blast Shield?
  • Any skill / gear reworking / recommendations?
  • Where should I put those last 4 points (3 +1 from Hidden Path)
  • Any roadblocks you may see coming down the pike?

Thanks in advance!

First of all, I think Balance Rings are basically worthless now after the nerf and there’s no good alternative for fire AA. Luckily, Dagallon can go lightning route which is generally good for ranged due to better stats than fire. And the replacement rings are cheap faction items.

Here’s a build you can aim for: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/r2B3jeWV

The link already answers some of your questions

  1. WPS should be at least 6/10 for Bursting and Chilling, exactly 7/10 for storm unless your 1 pointer gets it to more. I like overcapping bursting, getting chilling to 8/10 as in the link.

  2. Blast shield can be maxed if you have enough points. I recommend at least 12/12 for squishy builds like this.

3, 4. Already in the link

  1. Build linked above has low armor and phys res, so watch out for hard hitters. This will be totally fine in campaign tho. The real challenge is acquiring the pieces you don’t have yet.

Edit: still not sure about skipping elemental storm cause deadly aim isn’t 100% up. That part needs testing.

Full set look like a trap, imho. You want 2 Destroyers and fire Purifier or 2 Annihilators and lightning purifier.

4pc bonus indeed doesn’t give much on a crucible setting. But on campaign I think the RR is good cause the deadly aim downtime is where you run and look for mobs.

Rhowan’s Crown gives 32 RR with a near 100% uptime. This set gives 20 with with partial uptime. I do not think it has much value considering its a 4p bonus especially since it forces you to use a light/fire split.

I could see the head piece being used for a number ranged fire strike builds(thought is unfortunate that it is mix fire and lightning).
If you could convert most of the fire damage to lighting or the reverse without too much trouble or if it boosted lighting/fire damage far more I could see value in the set but currently using the whole set seems kinda meh.

Thank you for the feedback! Got a lot to think about and play with, especially understanding how to make this character crucible viable.

Veretragna did an absolute banging job on a guide covering the mechanics of successful gladiators if you’re interested. While it isn’t specifically related to a dagallon purifier, I am sure you’ll walk away from it a better crafter than before.
