Looking into making a 2h Trickster. Need some input.

Thinking about doing a cold damage specced 2h Trickster that uses Bane of the Winter King, and Crown of the Winter King. I don’t know if anyone made a similar type build already or not?

I’m thinking mostly offensive for devotions, with Whirlpool being one of them.

Looking for gear suggestions as well.

this is outdated. and i’m not going to update this ancient thread, but maybe you can use some ideas there.

I’m finding myself really strapped for OA and DA both on this type of build regardless of gear and devotions. I got OA on most pieces of gear, and I’m barely hitting 2300ish OA tops. I need a few hundred more OA or this just isn’t gonna be viable. I have no clue where I’m supposed to get it.

Seems like no matter what I do I end up with something similar to a 2h warder, just weaker in all categories.

Every setup I come up with no matter what the gear or devotion combo loses to Fabius 100-0. So yeah, I’m done. Stick another fork in another idea.

You know all these different options/gear/setups on the surface makes it appear like you got tons of options, when in reality very few setups end up solid enough to be viable. I’d prefer things be more straight forward TBO. This is why I don’t like theorycrafting.

I mean heart of the wild, wendigo, shadow dance dodge, veil of shadow, defensive devos, possibly primal bond. Fabius shouldn’t be an issue here with ~1900 DA, big hp pool, and a lot of healing on top of all those defensive class abilities =x I used to play this char and he was a non issue.

23-2400 OA is totally doable, not every build has to have big numbers to be successful though it won’t be god tier either. What matters is what is fun though, long as you don’t have some puke worthy of OA who gives a fuck. Trickster is the only class combo to offer no passive flat/% OA so maybe you should’ve forseen this problem ;D

Did 5 runs at fabius, lost 5-0. I gathered enough from the 5 matches to determine that I’d lose 100-0 as well.

I didn’t do an exact copy of jajaja’s build. I found the mana cost to be problematic. I went with a savagery & shadow strike variant.

Stats posted are with all toggles, and buffs up, including savagery.

Killed him on my 1st try without using any potions, never got to a worrisome amount of health either  Granted he didn’t spawn with any of his cooky weapons, but it was np. I cannot fathom how you got dropped 5 times by him, was that 5 tries at one specific fabius spawn? Maybe he spawned with a weapon that targeted a specific resist that is low? I mean it’s either that or are you just somehow 100% wasting your pneumatic/scourge strike or w/e it’s called heals as I imagine you are using wendigo totem :stuck_out_tongue:

Update: 4 kills, 1 potion, 0 legendaries ;( maaaybe should’ve used a second pot but was like 98% sure i wouldn’t die and only got in that spot cause i wasted a heal. I don’t why you should have any problem with Fabulous Fabius with this char if you keep wendigo up and don’t waste pneumatic by spamming the key or something

Yeah that was 5x vs one spawn. I got no idea what weapon he spawned with but he was knocking massive chunks of HP away, like 8k in an instant, etc.

Assuming you used the save file above, any ideas to improve it?

After fighting fabius a few more times, I don’t know what weapons he spawned with when you fought him tomodak, but the average fabius kills me 50/50 without any sort of crazy weapon. He’ll roll me over even with a yellow weapon with Puncturing + of alacrity. He just does way too much freaking damage, and 12k HP really isn’t a big enough HP padding for me to be able to consistently beat Fabius. Its as simple as making one mistake. If I don’t tap a heal within 0.2 secs of me getting 8-10k of my bar stripped away instantly, I’m dead. Getting killed is really that easy. I can literally blink at the wrong time and I’m dead. Its happens with the posted build. The reason it happens is not enough armor, not enough armor absorb, and not enough DA to keep from getting crit. You really need the DA to not be crit to face tank fabius.

My CT sorcerer stays alive in this fight better than this trickster, and it has a lot to do with flashbang keeping Fabius from chaining a bunch of hits really quickly. That and I got enough DA and OA debuffs on fabius to keep him from critting my CT build. He crits the hell out of this Trickster. Frequently.

Took 2 1/2 minutes to beat Loghorren with the above build. Had to kite the hell out of him. For all the high end gear the build is using, that’s really, REALLY bad. I think this is almost as bad as my AAR build was.

TL;DR

2h Trickster = terrible idea.

Well iirc you had awful poison and chaos res and your vitality wasn’t great either lol, you could easily swap some gear around and get much nicer resists imo. 2.5 still seems pretty low given your damage though. I can post gear suggestions later if you’d like. I ran this build for quite awhile and it was pretty good, certainly not god tier but more than capable of handling ultimate outside of modrogen and maybe iron maiden, never fought her with it

I wager 1 million bits I can kill fabius 15 times with 1 death and beat your log time :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, the build has awful lightning, and chaos resist. Unfortunately, there isn’t much I can do to fix that with the gear I got. I considered dropping iskandra’s shoulders for something that had better chaos/lightning resist but I’d have to give up 20% physical resist for that. I MIGHT have some Benn Jahr shoulders that could fill that resist gap, but I’d have to look.

To improve the time on Log all I’d have to do is max out chaos resist so I can stay in his face and DPS him for longer. I was having to DPS him in 3-4 sec bursts, then back off. And kill adds. That’s why it took 2 1/2 minutes.

EDIT. Got a better resist setup. Cost a little bit of DPS, but not much.

Sash of the immortal sage & badge of mastery. The later helps with OA too.

Every most every offensive tool this build had got nerfed.

  • Savagery
  • Shadow strike
  • Falcon Swoop
  • Night’s chill

Its about 70% of what it was previously, and it was still sucking previously. Now its just flat out terrible.

The only build I’m running that didn’t get completely gutted was my CT build.

A similar type of build can still work. Almost the same gear and everything, just as a 2H blademaster instead of a Trickster. And use cadence with its transmuter instead of savagery. Its DPS will be a bit higher than the previous trickster build, but no wendigo totem. I’m still working on it, but I’ll share what I got later on.
