These areas seem to be really condensed. I’m actually surprised, I expected to have more room to kite enemies. More often than not, I find myself practically face-tanking things because of the small amount of space.
Boss areas should be far bigger imo and allow for strategy other than just Standing in a far corner spamming your ranged aoe from a distance till the enemy dies (Sylvarria queen/Loghorrian for example). And facetanking things because you just don’t have enough room to do anything else (Warden/Sylvarria queen)
The warden is a fair example of what i’m talking about. You have a little cube to kill this guy lol. It’s doable, but it’s a bit underwhelming.
What do you guys think?
As for the crucible, I really enjoy the space your given to move around and attack things. If anything, I would say boss areas should be around that size or be atleast around 3/4 of it.
Don’t have a problem kiting in most encounters really. I’m going off of my experiences and memory (so I might be missing some details) but here are my thoughts on the examples you gave:
-For the Warden, I easily have enough room to kite if I have to, usually I go for around the centre table (as ranged characters can fire around it). However, he just never makes it easy as he Blitzes you every so often.
-For the Loghorrean, things get messy if it goes on for too long (i.e. you don’t have a good amount of damage output). Still though, the far end where you enter is fairly safe if you need some breathing room and where I retreat to when I take out the Vanguards heroes he spawns.
-For Sylvarria, I can agree that the arena here is a pain. There’s almost nowhere to stand within range of her where you don’t get whipped by the background vines and she regularly summons Ugdenbog Golems as meat shields. Similar to Log, there’s a small spot at the far end where you enter that is fairly safe but for the most part, get ready to get close and soak some damage. It’s Act 5 though so you should have some defensive skills/mechanics by this point.
I would only agree on Sylvarria’s boss room being too small, and that’s mainly because of the attacking tentacles. Haven’t had too much problem kiting from other bosses.
I agree with the others, only Sylvarria’s den is too restrictive to allow for kiting, but as that is clearly obvious it has to be by design. Once those safe zones have been identified then the fight becomes somewhat simpler while remaining a little irritating.
I agree, that seems to be the point of Sylvarria! You only need good armor & poison resistance to trivialize it anyway. For bosses like Krieg I find that close-ranged kiting works best. A lot of his moves have a very short range or move in a very thin line, meaning strafing from side to side at a small distance makes you practically immune to them. Most bosses are pretty weak to strafing in that zig-zag way, actually!
