Game won’t launch at all for me after the update and DLC download.
I have uninstalled and am currently re-installing via Steam.
Edit: Nope. Not starting at all anymore. Well done.

Verify game files.
Try using the repair.exe in the Grim Dawn folder.
I just downloaded and installed the expansion. The first time I tried to launch all I got was a black screen with the gauntlet cursor in the middle of it. I shut the application down in windows task manager and tried again. Game made it to character selection screen with no troubles second time.
Admittedly, I did not try to actually go into the game. Won’t have time for that until after work.

Adding /d3d9 to the launch options fixed it for me.
Now if I only knew how to access the new content…

Nope, that doesn’t help at all.
Verifying and repairing does not work for me, nor does reinstallation of the game or restart of pc I want to play my sexy theorycrafted purifier.
My game fired up right away. No issues. I truly feel for those who have them. There is nothing worse than waiting for SO long for a game, it finally gets released, and you buy it install it and…it won’t run. SO frustrating. Crate will get the issue resolved as quickly as they can. They ALWAYS do. And this is from someone who it took a LONG time to give Crate the benefit of the doubt. I was NOT a fan of theirs in the beginning. The devs can attest to that.
Try going into Steam Launch and type /d3d9.

Was this 1.1 gb update meant as preparation for the release of AoM, this update is a bit confusing to me?
And by the way after the update just now I got to the main menu and I could start the game without a problem.

Launch can be find: right click the game in the library, choose properties, it should be right there.
The 1.1gb is an update, the expansion is around 2.3gb.
