Mark of Torment 100% of the time - foiled again.

First:
Max CDR that I am aware of (constants, as opposed to leaving things to chance like using hourglass or eternity):

  1. Mythical Black Flame dagger, offhand orb and mantle: 10% for set bonus + 19% for offhand=29%
  2. 7% amulet and 7% helmet =14%
  3. Star Pact 15%
    Total=58%

Mark of torment duration is 6 seconds, cooldown 6.72 seconds. Not good enough.

Second:
Switch the helm to necrolord’s gaze and duration is increased to 8 seconds while cooldown becomes 51% / 7.84 seconds. Good enough?

Third:
Switch the helm to necrolord, sword to blaze, shield to a 7% mythical untouchable and you get a new cooldown of 29% / 9.9 seconds with a duration now of 10 seconds. Good enough?

Unfortunately, the answer to both 2 and 3 above is no. There’s about a half second pause between when you start to recast and the spell goes off, leaving you vulnerable.

Is the answer max casting haste to 200%? I managed to max it while still being able to max mark of torment, star pact and maiven’s.

Apparently, it made no difference. There is still a delay between when i initiate my casting and it goes off.

I would be curious if somehow cooldown was dropped to give at least a .5 second head start to recast before it expires.

Is this half second delay built in, so that there is always a gap between castings or is it just that the cooldowns I’ve achieved are not good enough?

Even when your cooldown is lower than your duration, if the guy you marked dies too fast then you’re still vulnerable no? This is what I hate about MoT, it’s only useful in 1v1 fight, when a horde of Hulks / random Heroes like at wave 135 charging at you you can’t just mark some random dude and pray he lives long enough

That’s a good point. I was only thinking of it in terms of taking out tough bosses, like the ravager, and you explained why that is.

Yeah I think a Dark One cabalist may get a free cluster all the time with your approach.
Edit: Brainfart, I was wrong it couldn’t

I usualy drop it on the sturdiest enemy and try to not focus hin in a fight. Works pretty well =)
