Hello everyone,
playing around with the game and the devotions a bit already, one question came up that I couldnt yet find within the game guide or forum entries
While I found out that some passively occuring attacks like the soldiers Markovian’s Advantage and Zollans Technique I cannot add it to modifiers for attacks like Fire Strikes’ Explosive Strikes or Static Strikes
which so far with “on attack” dvotions didnt matter much as I still get hits anyway to proc effects.
I just wonder how the “on death” works with skills like Fire Strike.
Will it still procc, for example the skeletons, if the explosive AoE or the lightning damage kills the enemy as it is considered as comming from Fire Strike? or will only the regular damage calculation for the “base” skill procc those effects?
How would that work with the arcanists replicating missle?
All the skills in the Fire Strike line are skill modifiers, not weapon pool skills (WPS). They simply modify the way FireStrike works (or its damage) as a whole.
On the contrary, WPS are replacement for the main attack, that completely overwrites the damage/effect that the original skill would have.
Thus, the skill modifier from FireStrike (Or Panetti’s) do not proc independently from the main skill, the way Markovian or Zolhan would.
cool, so from that I take it that its like I hoped, it would still consider all modifications as “fire strike” and no matter what part of the modifiers kills an enemy, skelettons can be raised.
thanks alot for clearing that up. its always good to understand the mechanics in depth before messing to much with the skill system^^
My question is, what will be the difference between using only Cadence (without any WPS) and Cadence with WPS (Markovian Advantage & Zolhan’s Tecnique)?
In the first case (no WPS), do every strike has a chance to proc Bull Rush or only the 3rd strike has a chance?
Second case (with WPS), if WPS activates, does Bull Rush has a chance to active or not?
from what I learned so far, since you can use those to procc devotion skills directly, it would not make it procc for those skills as well. that would mean, the devotion would be triggered from up to 7 passively working skills when combining nightblade and soldier. and using cadence. So I would hardly believe it does
but i can tell you, every hit of cadence can procc devotions. the charge is only required for the additional effect, but every single hit works for devotions
Yes, every hit will have a chance to proc Bull Rush.
I’m not sure, but my guess is that you can proc it with a WPS. Here’s why I guessed that: proccing a WPS doesn’t stop you from building up a Cadence stack, which you can only do by using Cadence.
Another note in case you didn’t know: the Cadence 3rd hit will stop any WPS from occurring, they will only have a chance to happen on your 1st and 2nd hits.
I have a related question. If I bind something like Acid Spray to a WPS like Execution. Does the “20% Chance on Attack” mean that its 20% of the time of a WPS thats already only 20% of your basic attacks?
Basically giving you a proc on 20% of 20%. If yes, is it ever a good idea to bind devotions to an WPS?
yes, thats exactly what it is. and I dont find it that bad if the skill in question has a high cooldown with strong effect. after all, it still works without needing another actively used skill. for a skill with low or now cooldown that you want to use often. I recommend against it
As far as I know, that’s how it works. The only time I would say it’s viable to bind devotions to a WPS is if it’s AOE, and even then it’s questionable. I would only do it if you have no other better skills to bind it to.
Edit: Lol Mighty_Rathalos sorry I keep double posting, I didn’t see your answers when I started my reply
On the same note, does the “XY% on Attack” mean per activation of a skill or per hit? The word “Attack” is a bit ambiguous.
For example binding Acid Spary to Ring of Steel gives it a “51% Chance on Attack” to activate, does that mean 51% per enemy hit or just per use of Ring of Steel?
its not double posting, if anything its even better because two people reporting to have experienced the same behaviour of the games mechanic is just a confirmation
also, I didnt even consider AoE, dont even know if chance on attack rolls for every hit in AoE. I only realised that multy hitting attacks can procc the effect on every of the hits
also, dont forget u can bind them to item skills, which helps alot as well since u can have alot of item skills if you feel like
