Basic idea is this:
I’d like to see a gameplay mode where we can play as the ancient legends some of the sets are named for, my entire character switching into that legendary figure for that specific dungeon. This could be handled as something akin to a dream state, my character sleeping or something, or it could be they just get transmuted; which way you go with it should determine whether or not death matters for Hardcore players (doesn’t make much difference to me as I don’t play HC so yeah). Each major set should have its own dungeon, and maybe either require you get the set to get in, or alternatively have that specific set’s pieces have a higher drop rate from the victory chest (acquired after leaving upon beating the dungeon).
Part of why I want this (aside from part of me kinda hoping you go with the drop rates for target farming) is because I’d like to see what it would be like to play with skills from 3 classes at once, as part of this would be that you get to fully utilize the entire set’s abilities, but none of the player’s; you won’t have access to an inventory and will not be able to properly open the character sheet or skills tree at all, and will not be able to loot. That should simplify implementation, methinks; up to devs if they want to try and keep a player’s Constellations or not, though I’m thinking it might be best to disable them during this.
Entrances could be scattered throughout the world (special incense braziers, or weird portals, perhaps?), or maybe they could be implemented as an experiment of Devil’s Crossing’s resident mad scientist playing with the Portal and attempting to time-warp you back to stop the Grim Dawn from ever happening and getting something akin to a Quantum Leap effect, or whatever you like.
I know this would be a big project and perhaps unlikely, but I’m tossing the idea into the winds and crossing my fingers nonetheless.
