So hey, i wanted to ask those of you who have started ultimate as a level 1 character.
I’ve successfuly managed to reach act 2 on ultimate difficulty but found myself stuck on Darius.
Now, im trying to understand. Are you suppose to go back to elite and get stronger in order to advance in ultimate?
I’m level 46, with 10 devotion points (just from playing ultimate on act 1 and few shrines from act 2) and basically i feel too weak to push ultimate any further.
I went back to elite and since all portals are unlocked now im farming SoT a little bit which seems to be going pretty ok at good pace.
Were you also forced to take a step back in order to push ultimate as a brand new character?
I am wondering the same. I kited Darius for 15 minutes before killing him, then I forgot that I was supposed to walk out of his hideout, returned to the main menu, then realized that thing, and I no longer want to fight him again without seriously buffing myself.
Note that you can also go do the FG expansion after finishing Act 1. Though the expansion’s difficulty does not help either. The beginning trial was also a hard grind.
It seems that not taking normal/elite is probably a mistake. All those delicious XP and reputation from the mandatory quests. I miss them.
Going back from Ultimate to Elite at level 47 made all the difference in the world. I literally skipped the tedious normal and jumped up up ultimate, reached almost level 50 and went back to elite where i am now getting my devotions much easier as all portals are unlocked and farm casually whereever i want.
To be honest, running all normal and then all elite just so i can feel “comfortable” in ultimate makes no sense.
Its a HUGE time dump, trust me, i know. I have over 700 hours in Grim Dawn and ive deleted ALL of my characters before FG was been released.
Then i made a new character, after deleting all my chest with its purples-materials and obviously ive hard resetted my recipes too.
It took me few good days in order to finish both normal and elite (clearing EVERYTHING including side quests and rep quests which ive fully unlocked).
And for what? if you can do all of that in ultimate anyways?
Ultimate difficulty is where youll end up farming 90% of the time, and this new merit system is just genius!
Go do some elite and get back to ultimate once you feel more comfortable with your build.
