I’ve been farming the crap out of these trying to get a specific amulet. I’ve already done about 25 or so…that’s about 150ish Wendigo Spirits after converting all mats (with no luck of course). Ultimate is driving me mad with the high hit points chain stunning super mob density so I have started doing the same runs on Elite. Does anyone know if the drop rates are the same on Elite, or any disadvantage of doing it on elite? I know I have less chance of level 94 legendaries dropping but I am not really concerned about getting another Mythical Golemborn Greaves. Does ultimate spawn more hero mobs than elite or is that based solely on faction standing? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
How are you farming them exactly? I wasn’t aware there was a way to farm those specific items? What build are you running that you have so much issue with being chain stunned? Elite can still drop level 94 items if the enemies and yourself are high enough level. What amulet are you after?
Dismantling legendary items is a very good source of AoM crafting materials nowadays.
You can farm the drops and trade them in for random legendaries at the smith, which you can target by type (in my case accessories). I’m after the mythical Vigar’s Hunger necklace, running a Drain Essence build. I ran Elite mode for about 4 hours last night and I actually got more than on ultimate for time spent that way, not sure if I was lucky or clear speed was so fast it made it more efficient. They are still very rare though. I haven’t tried dismantling yet, I just assumed it was a waste of dynamite with super low chances.
The only disadvantage to Elite is that enemies won’t drop rare crafting materials if they are more than 10 levels lower than you.
I want to say that Ultimate does spawn more heroes, but my observations may just be a coincidence as I have no proof.
I don’t think there’s a difference in the number of heroes. What ultimate gives you is a better shot at legendaries and double rares, mostly.
I haven’t found a way to farm missives or mutagens or wendigo spirits in any specific way. Unless you just mean you are running through specific areas over and over in the hope things drop?
Detonating legendaries and epics that are level 94 is a great way to get materials if you have the materials to make the dynamite in the first place. With a drain essence build I cannot see your build being good for farming. Not trying to give you shit or anything but the “stop and fight” nature of your build makes it much slower than a build that can just blast through areas and kill everything in sight without needing to stop or use much caution. How does your build go when it runs up against nemesis?
The level of the detonated item is completely irrelevant. Only the quality (epic/legendary) matters. If you have the spare resources, you can create additional stuff to blow up by having, e.g., Explorer’s Trousers crafted at a blacksmith.
Except it isn’t.
Hey OP - are you into trading? If you are, I can trade you 1 missive or spirit or mutagen for 3 ugdenblooms. You can farm ugdenblooms (there is a thread or two on this) unlike the 3 mats you lack.
I am generally low on ugdenblooms due to the need to upgrade my various lvl 85 characters as well as equip my new characters. Due to the recent match, i have no more issues with the 3 mats you lack since i have around 400 - 500 brains/hearts/bloods each courtesy of close to 2k hours in this game and the massive number of times i used dynamites on blue and purple items. (Yes I used up lots of searing embers and crystals etc to craft dynamites.)
If you are interested, my Steam ID is:
If not, nvm and hope you get your item soon if you play self-found.
(You can try trading for it if you are into trading and are not too particular about the provenance of an item since you can’t be sure an item is not duped for eg.)
Thanks!
I do pretty well farming them. The Missives and Mutagens drop from heroes and bosses only from what I have seen, once in a while from boss chests and Treasure Troves also. My build does okay in ultimate but I do die occasionally to Galakros and Alaksander with their one shot kill abilities. Normal heroes and bosses rarely pose a threat. Since I have started running elite instead I changed a component to Rift Strike to help me bypass mobs, but they all melt anyway.

My bad… or not? Can you smash level 20 crafts with a player at level 100 (transfer them, if necessary) and will get Mutagens and Missives just fine? Could it be, the quoted level refers to the player and not the item?
To be honest, I didn’t pay attention until now, as I often dismantled a mix of low-level-transfered/farmed/crafted stuff. So the above is the impression I had until now.
It’s the item level, not player level. But the RNG is a cruel and fickle mistress who delights in our suffering.
It’s actually very good. Using Ceno’s tool found here, you can read:
mt_comp_dismantling_d01.dbr
Aetherial Missive - 10.0%
Manticore Eye - 2.0%
Ancient Heart - 5.0%
Tainted Brain Matter - 5.0%
Ugdenbloom - 2.5%
Aetherial Mutagen - 10.0%
Skeleton Key - 0.5%
Blood of Ch’thon - 5.0%
Wendigo Spirit - 10.0%
…
So there is a (rather huge if you ask me) chance of getting something good from dismantling legendary items, and then the remaining 50% are going to be random partial components like a quarter of polished emerald.
