[Mod] Central GD-Zenith Thread

Hey Ceno, can you make Ice Surge to pass through enemies?

Is there gear in this mod that gives + X to the new skills/masteries

No(t yet).

Interesting DLnow.

How do you start the Zenith campaign? Whenever I start a new game I spawn in devil’s crossing. Even after I make a new character under the custom game mode “Zenith ~ world001.map.”

There is no zenith campaign released yet afaik

Ahh, I see. That would explain it.

Hey Ceno have u implemented your crafting system in 0.6B and if yes where can i craft something?

I have not, no.

Hope this mod is not abandoned, i miss my old terror knight…

It isn’t. Just waiting for the xpac to cool off before diving back in.

Good to hear that

@Ceno, any chance to see Zenith updated for AoM-compatibility? Want to bring my hands back on terrorising enemies

It’s been almost a year, and still no update :frowning:
I miss Grimarillion, but the masteries from Zenith are what I miss the most.
I’ve even watched your tutorial on YouTube about modding, @Ceno , but I am afraid I am a complete noob at this and doubt I can make the mod work with the expansion…

It’s been on my to-do list to make Zenith AoM compatible recently. Obviously, my to-do list has been gathering a lot of dust. :stuck_out_tongue:

Also on the list is fleshing out some UI bugs, polishing up some graphical details, and fully adding some finishing skills to the Necrotic, which has plenty of real-estate remaining for more “stuff.”

After that, though, future progression of Zenith is questionable. The announcement of another expansion on the horizon has stifled a lot of my drive to do any real modding, at a time when I was already unsure of how much more I wanted to implement. Many of the non-mastery things I’ve teased will likely be released separately, if at all, and I’m not sure if I’ll ever be releasing a Zenith-related map (that’s not to say I’m not planning to release other maps…).

I was under the impression that Zenith was primarily a masteries mod, at least that’s what I gathered from Grimarillion.
May I ask why did the expansion stifle a lot of your drive? is it because expansions seem to have a way of breaking existing mods?

Kinda?

More or less every major update (i.e., non-Hotfix) results in mods needing to be made compatible with such an update. An expansion is almost a guarantee of that.

But more importantly, the announcement of an expansion implies some more “toys” to play with when it comes to modding. New skills in player-masteries (Drain Essence, for instance) or new skills in the hands of enemies (the various boomerang projectiles) offer new ways to exploit the system to create more intriguing mechanics in a mod. Knowing that there’ll be new, cool stuff to work with kinda makes you question how much you want to make with the old, already-existing stuff. So, that’s kind of why I’m ‘reluctant’ to pursue much modding right now.

Ultimately, however, Ashes of Malmouth was a little bit of a letdown on the modding front. It added a ton of new things, sure, but mechanically speaking there’s not much else that could be tweaked in AoM to make things feel new or exciting or any more fun than they already were (that said, I am curious whether the arc angle of Drain Essence can be changed, and if so, I’d like to make a 360-degree channeled AoE  Would probably find its way into Necrotic somehow). So, that’s kind of why I was ‘reluctant’ to do any modding shortly after AoM released.

Have you written a detailed story about Zenith somewhere? I feel like I saw it here long ago but I can not remember.

Thanks to ASYLUM we can now play Grimarillion again and there are people who want to know the background of Zenith, so if you have such a story I would like to write it on our wiki.

I was told to report this to you, there is an error with the skill Desolator Protocol

It doesn’t have a % chance to proc set so it never procs

P.S. Really like your classes, they are the saving grace of the grimarillion mod, most OP and survivable class is the Vagabond, it has a little of everything you need to survive and more, best class for hardcore mode.

Grimarillion seems to be seeing a lot of action lately, and with it, the Zenith masteries. If you have some feedback or known issues with the masteries, now’s the time to discuss them. Will be opening the dusty coffers of the mod this weekend to make Zenith more exploitative of the new mechanics offered by AoM+FG!
