[MOD] Grimmier – More Heroes,Random Bosses

Grimmier only adds more Heroes and random Bosses. No other game settings have been changed.

Grimmier has four difficulty settings, and each one gradually becomes more challenging as your character levels up. You won’t be swarmed by a horde of Heroes right from Level 1. “★★Onslaught” is the version I personally recommend, as it has been extensively tested and adjusted through multiple playthroughs.

I recommend creating a new character to play Grimmier. During testing, I used characters that had previously been played with other mods, and I encountered an issue where items in the inventory were reset to their original state.

Due to my limited time, I was unable to create a new character and test every difficulty from Level 1 all the way to Level 100. However, I believe that a new character will face all kinds of challenges in “★★★★Massacre”. You will need to stay in top shape at all times to handle every encounter with confidence, so bring your best build!

Special thanks to Grimmest for the inspiration, as well as to all the modding tutorials and guides I found online. Although this is such a small project that it may hardly qualify as a “mod,” I still hope it can bring everyone a different kind of fun.

Please forgive my limited abilities. The current version cannot change its settings in-game at any time like Grimmest can. If I can eventually achieve that, that will be the 1.0 version I have always wanted to create.

Please use the “FOA_PowerUp” Mod in-game

The following is my first post, so I’ll leave it here for now.

Hi everyone,

I’m a Grim Dawn player from Taiwan, and I’ve been playing the game for around 2,500 hours. I previously played Grimmest, and I really wanted to experience something similar again in the newer version of the game.

So I started researching and trying to create my own mod. However, the structure of Grimmest was far too complicated for someone like me, who has absolutely no background in programming or coding. Because of that, I decided to create my own mod based on what I could understand and figure out on my own.

Here is a video of my current gameplay test:

Since English is not my native language, I’m honestly quite nervous about posting on the official international forum.

What I would like to ask is: if I want to release my mod and hopefully have more Grim Dawn players help me test it, would Modding-Projects be the appropriate place to post it?

Although I have played Grim Dawn for a long time, I’m really just an average player. Therefore, I can only balance and configure the mod based on my own level of gameplay.

I would really appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or advice that could help me improve the mod.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this!

Yes, Modding Projects would be the place to make a thread for the mod with links to whatever platform you put the mod on like Nexus, Mega, MoDBB, etc, so players can download it to try.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I’ll prepare the MOD and try to release it in this thread. I hope this MOD can bring everyone a different kind of fun and enjoyment.

Hello, thanks for this mod! I’m playing rampage but I haven’t noticed any change in hero spawns. I’m level 35. Is the hero increase mainly for higher levels?

Thank you for reporting this. Since I’m currently at work and unable to check it myself, you can temporarily switch to “★★Onslaught” instead. You only need to replace the mod files, and your existing character save will still carry over.

“★★★Rampage” should make the difference fairly noticeable once you enter the game. You’ll sometimes encounter larger groups of monsters, and you should be able to spot some additional Heroes that normally wouldn’t be there, even in the cave at the first Devotion Shrine.

I’ll check it as soon as I get home. I hope this hasn’t caused too much inconvenience while you’re playing.

Thanks for your response. I look forward to your update!

I checked and found that the issue was caused by an incorrect Mod folder name. During development, I used FOA_PowerUp as the Mod name, but later changed it to Grimmier as a tribute to Grimmest. However, it seems that the way the code is written requires the Mod folder to be named FOA_PowerUp in order for it to work properly.

I’ll update it for now. Please use the FOA_PowerUp Mod in-game. Your existing save files should not be affected.

Thank you very much for your feedback. If you happen to try the Mod again and successfully trigger its functionality, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know. Thank you again!

can you edit hero enemies same type in area? not random type

Yes, I can, but I’ll need some time to adjust the settings.

thank for hard work

I’ve finished a version without the additional random Heroes and Bosses, and I’ve uploaded it to the download section.
I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to test the entire progression from level 1 to level 100. However, I’ve gone through the code several times and performed some basic testing. If you encounter any issues, please let me know.

I’m playing on Rampage and I ran into the final boss of FoA in Ugdenbog. I’m fine with that but is that intended? I haven’t faced any other bosses thus far so it seems like an anomaly. Thanks.

Yes, the current settings do indeed cause level bosses to appear randomly throughout the main world map. There is even a small chance that you may encounter even more terrifying enemies. If you’re already level 100, you should have a pretty good chance of suddenly running into other Boss-level enemies while you’re out exploring.
