[Mod] Reign of Terror

x64 is my default, but I could ask my friend if she is using it, too.

… maybe some of you would be interested in trying out how my Lev. 43 wizard Virazon Canoo plays? But I don’t know how to upload the last save game here.

@ matthewfarmery

Dear thanks for helping to make the last save state of my lev. 43 wizard available here as a zip file …

Verizon Canoo.zip (239.1 KB)

zip the folder of the save,7zip is free, then use dropbox, (its free to use I think) and then post the url to the save.

Great mod! Started playing two days ago.

How’s the mid/endgame balance?
I found that D2 original classes mostly have a hard time keeping up with the GD classes early game. Does this change much later on?

Also, curious about the EoR OK vs WW Barb skill mechanics and performance differences. I know in the original GD EoR is very strong and given that you get it at level 10-11, it’s pretty OP. Barb WW will require 18 levels to unlock. Really interested to see how they compare.

Early game GD classes have a slightly easier time as their abilities rely less on gear. Endgame, D2 will outperform GD classes but both are viable

Amazing! thank you! So far it’s been a blast. Going on veteran elites aren’t as easy as in D2. I even managed to get oneshot once, while being pretty well equipped.

… I have a question for you, with the request for a quick answer.

There is the possibility to turn the “normal” Hydra into either a Frost Hydra or a Lightning Hydra. Do I then also have to max the corresponding mastery (cold or lightning), or do I stick to the fire mastery, which normally upgrades the Fire Hydra …?

max the corresponding mastery, instead of fire mastery because lightning hydra won’t be affected by fire mastery.

Lightning is a ridiculously strong damage type (especially if you convert another element to lightning and can then use 2 of the masteries from Sorcerer). I’ve learned you can somewhat get around lack of resist redux by brute force alone lol.

hmmm i will try 64 bit for rot as my game still crashes in underground passage reason i stopped playing. It’s time consuming to load the old mod do UP and then update it again for new characters.

Make a character to lvl10 or so, one that passed through UP, and just make several copies of that so you can just use that characterfile for new chars. GDstash will undo the classes for you, or level it classless until then, which is doable with the firebolt/icespike/poison bomb skills from the component

thanks for the quick answer! And yes, lightning is a damn strong weapon, which is terrifying especially in connection with hydra and chain lightning. Diablo himself couldn’t get out of his circle of fire at all and didn’t survive 10 seconds, and my own chain lightning on lev. 47 does 165,000 damage per second. But I switched now, because you can forget about a character with 2 equal damage types on Nightmare at the latest, because then enemies appear more and more often that have extremely high resis against lightning or are even completely imun …

The highest resist that monsters can get is 97% I do hope that there won’t be any total immune monsters, as they were a pain in the original D2.

Well that made me feel dumb :unamused:To be honest that never came to mind

Because of being at high enough levels, can use the Rainbow Facets for Elemental converted to Lightning. Can take all 3 masteries in Sorcerer as well as Enchant for max damage. Besides Lightning Whirlwind, Lightning Trapssassin also does ridiculous damage (4 traps EACH with a max of 6 summons).

Far as I know, no enemies are immune to damage, just really high resists which is why its always emphasized to have resist reductions. Single only resist redux my Lightning Whirlwind has is Hand of Ultos devotion and it wastes most everything just fine.

Base campaign, there wont be. Except for those rare super-unique monsters.
I am working on a little side-project, which hopefully will see the immune monsters for that real D2 experience with immunities, but big if, if it will ever get implemented
Big difference compared to D2: everyone has access to a lot of resistance reduction here to break immunities.

Getting the other 2 devotions will be the easier DPS increase you can get if you dont have any. Gear isn’t important vs the value of RR

D2 Immunities is SUPER STUPID in how those resistances can be broken and it isn’t very clear and not intuitive or something a person would naturally know while playing.

As Grim Dawn is now, however, having high resistance vs. immunity isn’t a huge difference, as long as it’s fair.

Immunity should be 100% resistance, nothing more, nothing less. Enough said!

Oh, and actually give the player plenty of items/skills to break it.

Ok took a chance reinstall grim dawn because my x64 didn’t work and light weight mod would crash my game.RoT crashing stopped.Guess i had a corrupted gd to start with but me being lazy i didn’t want to reinstall

I’m aiming more for 130-150%

You mean this isn’t in yet? a single devotion already adds 30+ RR, so just that will already (almost) break the immunity. Add a second devotion and it’s down (from 130) already to 70%, ignoring any skills someone might have. Skills alone can give up to some additional -70%

I don’t remember, glad you do since you are designing it.

Ok, that sounds all right.
