Mods aren’t working for me with the new playtest. I’m getting a melonloader error
Welcome to the forum.
Take that up with the mods creators. They will have to update their mods to the latest version of the game and do so again every time there’s another update.
You just have to reinstall ML and it works.
when i attempted to do this for play testing, only 3 out of 8 mods worked : (
Reinstalling Melonloader fixed the crash-to-desktop problem but didn’t make any of the mods work for me (zoom, auto-rebuild, auto-composting).
after much trial and error…
tl:dr - until melonloader is updated with the most recent version (which I haven’t the foggiest idea how to go about) we are left with the choice of better performance, or our QoL mods.
none of the mods I have function even if log report says they do
tough choice.
zoom out - repair all - choose next building - and compost yard overhaul (autocompost) are near to necessities.
The latest version of the game includes an update to Unity itself, which is likely what is breaking various mods.
I imagine the mod creators will need to update the mods to make them compatible with v0.8.1 and beyond.
I suppose this is a good time to repeat that we did recommend not using mods during this stage of development and that we’ll be happy to support modding closer to release.
yeah, figured as much.
can’t blame us for trying though : )
ok you can — it was all my fault from the start!
I can’t live without the zoom out
Count your blessings. After Anno 1800’s latest Update No. 16 most of its Mods started causing CTDs. A month and more later, and I’m still waiting for some of my favorites (among the 30+ that I use in that game!) to be Updated and work again.
Not being willing to play that game in its current state, come to think of it, is one big reason I have more time to play this one!
I stopped playing the beta release so I can use mods again, FF.
Completely understand. I’m not playing the Beta Pre-Release with any Mods so I can be sure and comment on the ‘actual’ pre-release game and not a modded version.
But if the full release version does not have the mechanics in some of the Mods, I will definitely be installing them after release!
the mods just need to be re-complied using melon loader 6.0
5.7 doesn’t work with the latest unity release. So we are gonna be waiting awhile.
I stopped playing because of this as auto compost mod is a must have for me. I simply have
too many crop fields to be micro managing that.
I attempted to do this but when i went back to 0.8.0 on a new map and realized just how often and hard my cpu was getting smacked, I had to concede defeat and return to 0.8.1
I managed to get zoom to work, reinstalled melon, recopied the dll’s to the mods folder, restarted a few times, and for some reason it started to work…
There has been an excellent fast response to the Unity change in FF version 0.8.1.by modders on the Nexus site, Several of the key mods have already released new versions which they claim will now work with this new FF update.
Add Item Mod with UI
Compost Yard Overhaul
Work Area Overhauled
Desirability Radius Overhaul
no sign yet of updates on many of the other mods
I have downloaded them but not installed any yet as I am waiting for the other 3 or 4 crucial mods I use to update also before updating or playing FF again. As I already have a population of 1,650 on a large map using some crucial mods I can’t / won’t play the vanilla version and updating the game would kill my saved build without the mods that support this level of pop and the camera views and other essentials being installed before launching the game.
For those modding on regardless, MelonLoader v0.6.0 ALPHA via Github is the one we all must use to make any (now updated) FF mods work with these new FF updates.
When I do update I will update my comment if all is working well again
