After much teasing, it now has a name. Best wishes for the Kickstarter campaign!
The dynamic world sounds interesting. Also curious how that will play out. Not a big fan of procedurally generated stuff though. It often ends up feeling purposeless. We’ll see how it turns out, looks like they at least try to give it some purpose.
Nothing about this excites me except for the people behind it. I really hope that they can come up with a good game.
The fighting looks a bit clunky on the video? The destructible world looks like it could be really fun.
Kinda hating the fanservice main character though.
The Diablo franchise generally isn’t known for its build diversity. So I wonder how this will pan out in a world of GD, PoE, etc… where build diversity and theorycrafting are as much a part of the game, as playing it is. Not much revealed in the video/screencaps of skill or passive trees. Will wait and see, however. As D2 was so much fun, for its time.
They have a demo now -
Also, their Kickstarter is live -
Not sure when it happened, but I really like that people are making demos for games again!
Agreed. I was checking out Colony Ship the other day and was pleased to see a demo being available for the game. It lets people decide whether or not a game is worth their time without worrying about Steam’s refund window.
On-topic, I really hope that this Kickstarter is successful.
I played the demo for a half hour or so yesterday. It’s a bit rough, but I guess that was to be expected. Combat was ok, items seemed fine (more exciting than TQ2 tbh). Only tried one skill (crows), so not sure about those. The digging is a bit rough, had some camera issues with it and it’s a bit weird to slash with my dagger digging through caverns ![]()
Doesn’t look bad, but also not very modern (gfx engine wise).
I’ll probably give it another try in the future.
Also if you like playing a half-naked woman, Darkhaven is for you!
I’ve heard that TQ2 is pretty banal.
I tried the original Titan Quest and was instantly turned off by even the base game not completely sticking to Ancient Greece. I don’t expect a history lesson from my ARPGs, but if they try a historical setting, they should explore it properly.
I think TQ2 has an interesting skill system and the combat is nice. Items specifically are garbage. Small bonuses here and there, nothing exciting. Even here the small bonuses I got on the first few items I found already looked more promising than anything I’ve found in TQ2 ![]()
They already reached 100 000$ in just 2 days. I’m happy for them, but also sad for Carbon who didn’t succeed their KS campaign and didn’t even asked that much money.
That sounds promising. If they do the setting justice and can work out the performance issues. I’ll check it out upon releas.
That’s because there’s still weight behind having “ex-Diablo dev” in your job history.
The real challenge is to get the remaining amount. We’ll see how it goes.
I feel like the devs jumped the gun with their KS campaign. They’re relatively unknown developers who spent almost no time hyping up their game, and straightway launched a Kickstarter.
KS isn’t the same easy money that it used to be. These days, for a campaign to be successful, there has to be a decent amount of marketing push. Sending your game to the likes of Rhykker isn’t enough either. You need to be active on socials trying to create buzz, release teasers instead of full fledged trailers.
Even the developers of Darkhaven spent some time talking about their game before even giving it a proper name. Everyone one knew that several ex-Diablo devs were at a company called Moonbeast, and that they were working on some weird looking ARPG. But, no one knew what it was. They created the buzz necessary to get people interested in their product.
I really do wish the Carbon devs the best of luck. I wasn’t super hyped by it because they seemed to be focused on the endgame like Last Epoch instead of having a proper campaign. That was turn-off for me personally. But, they had an interesting product and it might have inspired more sci-fi ARPGs had their KS been successful.
Btw, Carbon might still release -
Looks like this Kickstarter will fall.
15 days since their KS started and hardly any new info on their game. The money may be coming, but the hype isn’t here.
While Carbon’s future is uncertain, maybe this other game can fill the void: BioSynth: Rising.

They give me the impression that they are not serious about their own game and only want to spread the word of their former projects like D1 and D2 and get financial support then probably will disappear into the unknown abyss.
Been following this one as well.
It’s definitely an ambitious game. Hopefully, their Kickstarter is actually successful this time.
ATOM 2 will also have a Kickstarter soon. Right after Swordhaven’s major content update is released.
Looks like RUINER is getting a sequel. The future of Carbon looks more and more uncertain as the days go by.
Speaking of uncertain futures. Darkhaven’s campaign isn’t going too well. What surprises me is that these old timers couldn’t leverage their connections to drum up support for their upcoming project.
Funding successful!
This was one of the laziest KS I’ve ever seen and I still don’t understand how they succeeded. Apart from the initial pitch, they revealed nothing about their game. Future classes? Skills? Respec? Death penalty? Nothing! They just rode on their past accomplishments as Diablo/Hellgate/Torchlight/etc creators.
Will wait and see how the game will be when it get released, but in the meantime, it’s sitting at the bottom of my watch list.
P.S.: Poor BioSynth… BioSynth: Rising - A turn-based biopunk/cyberpunk CRPG
