Not sure if this is a restriction set by Steam itself but it would be nice to have more than 50 character slots. I’ve ran out of space and re-using old characters is not fun 
This is a Steam restriction on their cloud system. If you want more saves, you need to save locally.
you can “technically” get more chars, with some caveat
first being it can be potentially be wonk to actually utilize steam cloud “proper” because of possibly unknowingly running into file limitation, so your stuff simply don’t actually sync
the other being you need to manually fiddle forth and back to make it happen or at minimum to swap between chars depending how you approach it
either way it’s gonna be in the "not officially supported/do at your own behest"kinda deal,
which all in all just means using local saves and either manual backups/transfers or utilizing a different cloud service ends up being easier or the same in terms of effort/simplicity
