Ah I see. I did not know that the loading screen is supposed to be a painting. That makes sense now. I am visually comparing the loading screen with other famous games around. For example, NFS Heatâs loading screen, they did not use screenshots of the actual race in-game but the art on that was pretty legit looking. Same with BG3. But going back to your point, it does makes sense now that those pictures are supposed to portray a painting.
As far as modding, Iâm not against it. The post states âto create your own worldâ. That sounds very good. What I donât really agree on is when thereâs an application(s) that can give a player certain items instantly, etc. It takes away the grinding and fun part of it. I am not sure if I am the only one here who likes to play the game without cheats but thatâs just me. I am sure a lot of players want that feature and I cannot fault them for that. To each their own and you gotta play the game the way you wanted to.
itâs a matter of (devâs) desired art style âfor their gameâ, what they think is fitting and looks good for the game/theme they had in mind, Grim Dawn is no different there
this is an aspect of âcreating your own worldâ that devs are fully behind; some people dontâ like a world with grind, or a world without auto picup, or a world with limited stash - so they let you mod and expand the game however you like, best of all; they encourage it
dare it be said large part of game balancing wouldnât have been so âthoroughâ, if it wasnât for âcheatâ tools allowing players to spawn hundreds of different items and build combinations without having to actually manually farm them all first?
and even if the devs are actively using some of these mods/tools, they might still not feel all the features are fitting for a vanilla version of the game
famously Grim Internals auto item pickup and speed modifier didnât make it into the game - even if they added auto materia pickup to vanilla
infinite stash or âgreatly expanded stashâ is another fan favourite devs actively say to use tools/mods for if not satisfied with vanilla storage amount
Well, thatâs the whole point of allowing modding of the game. Some people enjoy the grind, others donât. Also people who test the âmetaâ builds (an opinion) wonât grind each character to get to endgame for that. Since itâs mainly a single player game what others do with their game doesnât affect how you play yours.
Also modding has allowed things to be added to the game like the Reign of Terror mod which is D2/1 in GD, Grimarillion and Dawn of Masteries which are compilations of several other mods which give you more masteries to play the game with and even completely new map content like Nydiamar mod.
I know you reached a point of acceptance later in the thread, but I just want to draw attention to this statement, because I see it all the time when someone makes a suggestion and then gets told why their suggestion doesnât fit the theme/narrative/design philosophy of the game theyâre suggesting it for. The âwell, itâs just a suggestion and itâs up to the devs!â youâre right! It is! And people are telling you that what youâre asking for goes against the devs design philosophy and wonât be added.
Zantai himself has stated multiple times that infinite storage will never be added because of the multiple vault mods that can store an infinite number of items that he himself uses. And when people use âcontroller support was added!â he explained that that was a single dev working in their free time to add it because that dev wanted to use it.
These are just examples and not really directed at you, but more the general idea of that specific argument to deflect the feedback your suggestion received.
