Morrowind Easter Egg?

I just picked up some boots, for the first time in over 660 hours playing Grim Dawn, called Boots of Unseeing Swiftness. Before I even read the item description, the first thing I thought of were the Boots of Blinding Speed from Morrowind that Fortified your Speed attribute by 500 but also cast 100% Blind on you.

So are the Boots of Unseeing Swiftness an un-/intentional Easter Egg? Google gave me nothing and I hate not knowing for sure. Although, with Unseeing/Blindess and Swiftness/Speed being synonyms of each other and having -33% Light Radius/Blind with increased movement speed it has to be intentional.

They are in fact a morrowind easter egg.

Not sure how you managed to do this. I think every single toon I have ever made has found these boots at least once.

So those boots are an Easter Egg related to one of the TES series? That’s awesome! I would never known, since I hardly played it at all…

But then again, I’ve only managed to spot two obvious Easter Eggs so far… Gollus and the Hero monster Pukesnot, the Unwashed. :undecided:

Blame RNGsus. My WH is my most played toon and has ~200 hours on it and I’ve only found 5 Manticore Eyes (and I’ve farmed Mogara for probably 8-9 hours total. 28% drop rate my arse) and 6 Aether Clusters (3 of them from 1 run of Port Valbury).

I love ARPG’s but I have shit luck, which can make them frustrating at times.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and until the Valbury patch, I’d only ever found 4 Frozen Hearts on my WH. Luckily my Warder had like 20 of them. Now they drop rather often. My level 33 Sorcerer already has 6 of them.

  • How about Ungoliax and Ungoliant?
  • And somehow Arthur Bruno and the Overlord slipped into the game, too.
