I think it’s casting speed instead of attack speed but I could be mistaken.
There is no way to increase the attacks per second of Mortar trap - it is fixed.
Technically you can increase it’s attacks per second when you have a ton of points into Mortar allowing the ability to summon up to 3 one after the other.
There are also some items that give temporary auras for % Total Speed though I’m not sure if they effect Mortars at all (as I assume that would be the only way to do it since they don’t gain from pet stats).
Nope as Silben mentioned Mortar Trap’s firing rate is “fixed” it cannot be increased by any auras or player stats.
It would be nice if at higher levels you could summon 2/3 Mortar Trap’s at once. Instead of 1 at a time with CD. Late game by the time you’ve dropped your 2nd/3rd Mortar Trap everything is usually dead which completely negates the bonus of being able to summon 2-3.
As far as I know, nothing increases player scaling pet attack speeds, not even a pet modifier will do it. Have tried it in a mod (judicator), and ended up doing something else because it wasn’t working.
As I said merely an assumption as there are a few procs like Battlecry that give an aura of % Total Speed and Mortars do seem to gain the benefit from auras at least visually.
Build wise the use of Mortars and whether you drop 1-3 of them before a fight is over is dependent on what skills you use. Myself usually I have like 2 Storm Totems/Mortars up for the most part (used to be 3 with offhand CD items).
