Movement + attack = ranged happiness

Is it possible to add character movement and attacks simultaneously? As a mage and ranged player, I have a lot of trouble standing still and attacking because my character doesn’t have much survivability, and this is a common problem in closed arenas, especially since there are enemies with the ability to instantly close the distance.

No. The game is not designed with this kind of gameplay in mind and would require a total rebalancing of…everything.

Even if the WASD proposition goes through, movement from WASD would remain stop-and-go as one used their skills.

Run and gun gameplay is never happening in Grim Dawn.

Note that if you are relatively new to Grim Dawn, there are a couple gotchas when it comes to building your character which are important for survavibility.

It’s the resistances. The resistances are the gotchas.

Feel free to post your build in the forums via Grim Tools for folks to guide you into being less dead.

As Ceno has said it’s not possible, but you can build around that restriction. Builds that are highly mobile while still dealing damage are definitely a thing, for example DoT Kiters, Skaters and Aura builds. There are even builds that are entirely passive so you can keep moving without ever having to stop for an attack, procs will do it for you.

I agree, but it limits gameplay to certain builds.

it really doesn’t (as you can see by the hundreds upon hundreds of builds made), what it does do is make you find a way to deal with it (and GD does give you the tools to)
or as i often joke around {“GD is a facetank simulator” change my mind.meme}, so you get to stack regen, or heal procs or add lifesteal effects etc and various layered defences to deal with things for the moments you’re standing still
