It would be great if you did this in sound settings. Tick to mute all sounds. Untick to restore the previous setting.
Why? Just turn the master volume control all the way down, then put it up again when needed.
Similarly, many keyboards have a mute button.
WHY? Because that’s the most basic and practical settings feature that every game in the past had/ currently has/ and will have. That’s why.
I can’t believe you’re writing this. Oh, my God…
None of the RPGs I’ve played have had such a thing. Okay I haven’t played many, but did try some of the big names like Morrowind, Oblivion, Sacred, D2 and none of them had it. Neither does Titan Quest. So how you can say every game has/does/and willl have I don’t know.
Wishful thinking on your part methinks, Wishmaster The Dark.
Hahaha, so I can’t listen to the other stuff I intended as well?
Imagine this - player doesn’t want to listen to the sounds of monsters dying, spells being cast, dialogue, music, etc., but wants to listen to some music instead. He then goes to the settings window, and has to manually shift master volume, music volume, sound fx volume, ambient fx volume and dialogue volume to the lowest bar. Then he plays some music. After he has finished, he has to manually shift back master volume, music volume, sound fx volume, ambient fx volume and dialogue volume to the desired value. Simple “mute all” would do.
By the way, my keyboard doesn’t have mute button. Should I get new one because of one button? Hahaha.
True, some games don’t, but then some games can’t be played without in-game sounds. I can’t imagine myself playing Oblivion or Skyrim muted, while listening to some music. Your in-game life depends on the sound. FPS too.
Strategies and games like Grim Dawn don’t really need sound, you have 3rd person camera view, you see it all.
It gets tiring sometimes listening to monsters’ screams, yet sometimes because I’m in a mood to slay with more aggressive sound.
Do you not understand what master volume means/does?
XD Just tried it out. Thought it’s for main menu sounds.
…and were done.
