This is actually a thing in a few of the places I’ve lived. All river towns/cities in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
And I cannot overstate how cool it is…
Oh? Now that’s a strange concept to me. On this side of The Pond it is rather hard to imagine you could actually reach your neighbour’s house by cellar. I only actually remember one occurance where it was possible, but this was a huge rental complex with fenced cellar parcels where you could reach every building.
All in all around here it is rather uncommon to do yo. But did you also have a nice sacrifical altar down there?
