My neat "little" list of ideas, feedback and suggestions :)

Hello!
During my journeys in Grim Dawn, I’ve been making a list of things that could be improved. After thousands of gameplay hours, I decided to share it with y’all:

-Mark Treasure Troves on the map, similar to shrines and totems. Also make their models easier to spot in the world.

-Mark Bosses and maybe elites on the map as well (toggle-able in the options).

-Always mark enemies in SR on the map with small red dots (not the huge stars when you get 75%+). Elites could be big dots or stars.

-Make Augments account-bound (allow them to be stored in shared stash). Getting locked out of certain augments (4% hp for example) on one of your characters, just because you wanted to farm Barrowholm nemesis sucks.

-Make purple materials auto-stored in the stash with the “store components” button. Also make dynamite and skeleton keys usable from the stash.

-Reduce the amount of Aether Crystals required for crafting overall. The fact that base components require 3-4 Aether crystals to craft, means everyone is always out of crystals and has to run warden cellars, which is really boring. Reduce recipes to 1-2 crystals. Or make the crystals drop from ALL aetherial enemies, not just crystal clusters.

-Reduce the amount of purple materials some endgame compenents require. It gets really ridiculous when trying out new builds, the amount of material grinding is insane.Either that OR:

-Make it possible to detach components from items without destroying either of them.

-Add WASD movement support, no matter how janky. People get hand pain when playing ranged builds with mouse.

-Make a separate slider for item tooltip scale. I like my UI nice and big, but that makes the tooltips frankly ridiculous. If you’re dual-wielding, god forbid you mouse over a weapon - your entire screen get covered in matrix symbols. I have to swap to my empty second weapon set to see them, because they clip off the edge of my screen. Furthermore:

-Disable the “always on” gear comparison mode - comparing items with the currently equipped gear should be done via holding a modifier key - for example Alt or Ctrl. This should be configurable in the settings, for people who want an always-on compare like it is now though.

-Add a mode, in which items dropped on the ground have their names hidden and it’s impossible to pick them up unless holding the “Alt” key - similar to Diablo 2’s “nopickup” mode.
In this mode items that don’t meet your loot filter are hidden entirely, even while holding Alt.

I’m hoping some of my ideas inspire you to improve the game further and hopefully make it into the next expansion (for which I’m super hyped about - can’t wait for that affix crafting system!)

you can already do this btw

there are 3 button options in keybinds
one is toggle display loot, with this off you can’t loot items(i think?/iirc) - set this to whatever (you get a screen message when you enable it on/off)
then one of the other options is “show loot, filter”, you could set this to Alt

this also already happened in last update 1.2.0.3, just in case

while it’s not the solution, you can still get past this hurdle atm with selective play until it gets fixed(/if it gets fixed).
You can pick X faction on normal/elite, get revered, buy a stockpile of their augments, then make make different choice on Elite/Ult. - preferably with a Mandate ofc(wont take long to get revered with that)

Makes faction choices pretty much worthless then.

to be fair, with the above mentioned trick it pretty much already is, outside being unaware of Kymon/Necro class interaction and accidentally picking Necro early.
You’re just forcing the player into minimum playing 2x, and remembering to make the different faction choice for your end goal in mind is all

Stockpile will eventually run out if you are constantly changing augments.

sure, technically, effectively, unlikely
money is cheap, you can buy hundreds of augs so it wont have much impact in the end, “tedium at best” if one of them respect my time kinda players

Watch Zantai make augments 20 times more expensive just to make people stop doing this.

or makes them unuseable if current rep isn’t active :smiling_imp:

Concerning augments and components.
They do introduce an unnecessary amount of tedium.

In particular when you want to simply swap from one setup to another, to try it out.
Trying things out and experimenting to make your build stronger is a fundamental aspect of any ARPG.
Introducing a mandatory, hour-long farm to get Blooms, Crystals etc, for a simple gear swap, makes this much less fun, than in other games.

My suggested solution would be:
Add a (post-)endgame vendor, who sells all augments and crafted components.
Doesn’t even have to be cheap. Doesn’t have to be super convenient to access.
As long as I can stockpile some number of Prismatic Diamonds, Runebound Topaz, Living Armor etc, for when I need them.

I can get behind this.

Having one vendor who has all the different augments rather than “TPing” from one locale to another would be very beneficial.

instead of selling components, could just add an endgame quest that ads the functionality for inventor to remove comps without destroying base item

otherwise atleast make the vendor comps soulbound so shared stash can’t be used for those
