My review after 5 months

There are so many good things to say, I don’t know where to begin!

Setting/Characters: Excellent and very grimdark, easy to immerse yourself in this apocalyptic world and follow the story. The lore notes are very fun and informative, the characters are well done. One of the strongest aspects of this game is, I believe, the option for dialogue choices. Not only does this offer great replay potential, it’s really fun to see what happens if I don’t kill him; will he show up at a town selling stuff, or try to murder me later? I also love some of the conversation options for the Taken: some of them are pretty smartass, which gives me a chuckle.

Graphics and UI: Again, excellent. I think the graphics look amazing for what it is, it’s an ARPG after all not a reality sim. The world design appeals to me immensely, and the fact that there are so many different settings in Cairn means there is something to tickle anyone’s aesthetic fancy. I sometimes just chill at a vantage point and look around. The UI is helpful without being ‘in your face’ and very tastefully designed. Everything is fairly easy to navigate and all the info is there if you pay attention.

Gameplay: Super strong, classic point and click loot based hack and slash. Will not delve too deeply into this as I am not an expert and haven’t played the other games that are regarded as benchmarks in this genre.

And what makes this game fairly unique is the amazing community! Yes I’m talking about the hardcore, friendly guys (and gals) who help a brother out with his noob problems. No condescending remarks, no ‘go find it yourself,’ just a link or pic and informative replies. Although fairly late to the party, I notice the devs have a strong presence and take feedback regarding anything. Always tweaking the game and balancing. Gotta admire that. @Crate, you have earned my respect and trust, and I will always support you guys in whatever project you find yourself on! Thank you for making a game that you wanted to play, and releasing content that is very fairly priced! Anyhow, I’ll bring this erratic “review” to a close.

Glad to read another positive feedback on the forum!

And no matter at what point you’ve joined a community, you’re vital part of it’s ecosystem.

If it’s an ecosystem I think I am at the level of rock maybe?:joy::rofl:

Well, it is sort of. Without input from forum members the forum dies. And even rocks have their place in the ecosystem.

I have heard various legends about this “positive feedback”. So… are they true after all? I thought people here just complain all the time! :scorv:

Glad to hear it!

No, just that satisfied people playing (and sharing builds) instead of talking so we rarely see these kinds of comments but we definitely should do. On the other hand, most of these people/players probably giving good feedbacks in their own forum like sites instead here to make GD more appealing to their community. Like I have a few entries on a turkish website about GD so if anyone search it to get more information about the game they may read and decide to buy the game.

Wait, let me make a thread on testing to bitch about something just for Zantai to say no. :scorv:

Hey, don’t sell us short - we can totally do condescending  It just depends on the person asking for help (or how they are delivering their questions/complaints/critiques). For those type of people (the salty types) we can go from amazing to “toxic” :scorv:

Rule of thumb - if you come in with a cool head and are reasonably polite about it, you’ll usually get that back from responders.

But good to see someone comment positively about the graphics/art. You’ll see people that often try to dog on GD’s graphics simply because they aren’t cutting edge, photo-realistic, whatever, etc - but I’ve always loved GD’s art style and their artists have put in a lot of hard work bringing the world to life.
