Myrmidon Bastion DK, need advice and help.

Hello all.

After gathering the Myrmidon set, I really wanted to put it in action and try it out with a Dk (which seemed obvious).

First iteration :
https://www.grimtools.com/calc/mN48g3QN
From my point of view, I felt like I had something decent, worked around IT, since soldier has alot of skills with IT damage (but didn’t go FW, since the set doesn’t support it as much as Octavius).

Tried crucible (for a good stress test) and…it didn’t make the cut (at least, non-buffed nor banners) getting IM and Fabius=burst (wave 150).
On the dot side, it felt somewhat decent (over 200k IT/sec) with all skill buffs/debuff (non concistant).

So I thought about getting somewhat better AR and DA.

Second iteration :
https://www.grimtools.com/calc/62a5QyE2

This set-up has not been tested yet tho (and end up not even maxing out chaos resist, but could be fixed via potions).
Now obviously this build gave up on damage, for defence.

Now my concerns (and where I need coaching/advices), for those who are experienced with melee/dot builds, should I rather focus on more leech and OA instead (even if it means lower dot values) or for those who did try Myrmidon’s Bastion, can it be really reliable or is it more of a concept set, without much possibilities?

Thank you all for your time.

Tried with the second iteration.

Resultats didn’t seem much better, a mix of Valdaran, archivist theleron (sp, the mage who keeps draining energy+teleports) on wave 110 didn’t even make it.

Could the lack of overcapped resist be the cause? Most are under 50 overcap and enemies like Anesteria are mostly hit-and-run fights, due to her dmg output (can’t face-tank nor leech, dmg too high) or is my overall low life-leech too poor for crucible farming?

Myrmidon itself is nice set.
I’d shift it to something like this.
However, full Warborn will outperform Myrmidon.

The main concern of Myrmidon is low attack speed: 150% is totally not enough. Full Warborn provides additional 22% attack speed, that’s huge. And huge load of physical damage and armor.
If you want to keep Myrmidon, then focus on life leech and attack speed; however, that will be hard with Oleron/Obelisk devotion route.

Yes, had I other full sets (I don’t even have WB gravel :frowning: ) I could probably compare.

Unfortunatly, Myrmidon’s my 3nd only myth. full set (apart from Ulziun’s and dawnguard, damnit).

On paper, I thought I had something (IT dot wise) but I feels so slow to ramp up, while knowing other sources, like bleed, gets well over 300-500k, if I remember.

I guess I try and shift via ghoul and more aps, tho I dread I’d respec into a weak s&b DK phys cadence in the end, if I sacrifice too much IT.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Focus on either IT or physical damage, these two are little different types of damage. For IT you need Bull, Vire, Octavius, procs with trauma and as many sources of flat trauma as possible.

Wait, so physical damage and IT aren’t linked together? As in, -x% to physical resistance won’t reduce trauma aswell? Like poison and acid, vitality and decay, etc etc etc?

Or is it only Poison and Acid who are always combined ?

Then I cannot, in any way buff my IT output via -X% rr?

They are directly linked as well, physical RR reduces IT resistance too because they are identical types. But the specific of their usage is different. All dot builds stack duration of their dot, get as much independent sources of dot as possible, and generally they kite instead of facetanking.
Dot from one source can’t be stacked with 2 hits (if you hit 2 times game just selects crit with better damage), so if you spam Cadence with dot as main component of damage, you won’t deal any extra damage with further hits, because dot is applied once and it runs for 5 seconds for example (or whatever duration you have).
So, for dedicated IT damage you need Bull (independent source of dot and duration), Vire, Octavius set.

Alright, you scared me for a moment, when telling me to focus on a damage source, since they are different types of damage, you made it feel like they didn’t share RR.

Yes I know that only different sources of dot can stack.

In the end, I guess I could focus on all IT skills, but I believe it would become a cheap/weaker version of IT octavius, like this build : http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67802

-untransmutted FW-internal trauma node (better dot)
-cadence (deadly momentum) with maxed Zollan’s. OR going Blade Arc for hit-and-run
Blitz-Blindside maxed

I’ll think about it, thanks, again for your input!
