LOL such drama!
I don’t think a mechanical QoL change is quite comparable to one lexical definition being slightly more intuitive than another.
Copy pasting what I’ve written from the reddit thread on this topic today:
Shamanism is also the first type of Mysticism listed on wiki. So it’s not at all weird to have a Shaman be a Mystic, because they pretty much are irl
You can rest easy. We don’t rename classes retroactively.
That’s an extremely odd interpretation of what I was saying. I would have thought it obvious saying that it’s conceivable that a while from now you’re on the forum going “yeah, no, that name didn’t make sense, but no changing it now.”
As it stands, it’s not retroactive yet, if the class hasn’t been released, is it? You have time to change it now, rather than repeating the same issue as Druid.
I honestly don’t understand the patronization from you anyways. People who don’t care about the name won’t care either way. People who object on terms of existing lore are correct. Insisting on an outside definition that doesn’t match in-game sources is fine, I guess, but when you admit that Primevalist is more accurate and only rejected because it’s not snappy… what a juvenile response to someone who’s questioning a decision. There’s literally no advantages to muddling the meaning of “primal” as it stands in game, and the response to people who bring up that fact is… talking down to them.
You’re stating your opinion as factual in an inherently subjective discussion then throwing lore we wrote at me and saying I’m the one being patronizing.
I get it, you think Primalist is a better fit for Shaman. We disagree.
If years later I have a change of heart and say, damn I was wrong, it’s going to be one of the most minor errors I’ve made on this project and definitely won’t be losing sleep over it.
Sorry, this comment of yours isn’t being patronizing? It was made in good faith? I wonder how I possibly could have mistaken that.
I believed we have also admitted repeatedly that primal in its dictionary form can mean primeval; the central conceit all of us has made is that it’s not how you’ve used it. You can continue to deflect from that, but it remains the truth. To introduce a contradiction like that unnecessarily, and patronize us for pointing it out, is certainly a choice you can make as a gamemaster.
tomato potato, primal, primeval, primordial
i still maintain the best, most fitting, and coolest sounding name would’ve been:
so obviously that’s the big unforgiving mistake Crate made for this expansion, that everybody should be up in arms about and protest outside their office for, not primal etymology
Wildling and Relic Keep were better than what we got, yeah.
FoA release day, opens notepad, search+replace “tag”
Do you know if this breaks anything in multiplayer games, or is it kept client-side only?
not 100% sure but pretty sure it should be fine,
basically just like rainbow filter or language packs etc can alter tags and not affect MP as understand
Thanks for this! I’ll give it a try soon with existing classes to test.
