Necro/Nightblade suggestions

I was thinking of making a dual blades wielding, life leaching Reaper. No pets.

So I started one, 24th level atm, playing on Veteran mode. So far so good, no issues with any of the bosses.
At the moment I am putting my points on Reaping strike, Necrotic edge and Spectral binding/Spectral wrath in the necro skill tree. And phantasmal armor and anatomy of murder in the nightblade.

I’ve been putting all my stats on Cunning and this is where my doubts started coming. All nightbalde related builds I’ve seen (although not related to Reaper), dump all the skill points on Physique.

So…
Any comments on how to continue or it is better to start over?
Where should I focus on the devotion?
Which “spammable” skill should I use? Necro doesn’t have any imho.

Thanks in advance

There is apparently a new potion you can find (or buy?) that will allow you to reset your attributes so you don’t need to start over.

Cunning probably isn’t what you want if you are going any combination of cold/aether/vitality/poison. Spirit increases damage for those (and energy regeneration), while Physique will increase your health and defensive ability (reduces crits). Cunning will increase your offensive ability (more crits) and also you piercing, bleeding, and physical damage which is probably not relevant to you (although it might be possible to make a piercing Reaper).

You don’t need to dump everything in Physique but the highest level bosses and enemies do deal a lot of damage which you need to mitigate somehow. But you don’t have to worry about that too much yet and there are other ways.

I can’t really give you much advice about what skills and devotions other than to experiment. I am just starting to level a necromancer and I want to try out basically everything while I level him up so will do a lot of respecing. I am strongly consider a Reaper but the devotions don’t support cold/vitality anywhere near as well as other combinations. I guess at the highest level it will probably be more effective to convert one of the damages to the other if I go that way.

I have only played a couple of hours but so far I like Bone Harvest, Ravenous Earth, and Siphon Souls. I found the Drain Essence line underwhelming and an energy hog and Ill Omen seems suitable for devotion procs but I find the actual effect a bit weak and actually annoying for leveling.

The minions are OK but I probably need to focus on them more than I was with gear and devotions, they definitely were not killing as fast as the other skills.

Please tell me more about that potion, seems that I can’t find info about it.

If that’s true, I can experiment as much as I like without feeling that I might have to start a new character.

exactly my thoughts. Cold and vitality are really hard to push with devotions.
and im also not sure how everything will pan out, vitality seems nice but i dont know if pushing cold and vitality dual wield melee is worth it. at level 25 its working well, but still have my doubts about the later build. you are doing physical (converted to x) cold vitality and pierce. isn’t this too much?

quest reward with new act expansion

Great, thanks a lot! So I will see what will become of it and if by chance it becomes viable for ultimate difficulty, will share the build here.

I’m interested if you find more informations about good devotion and gear for a reaper vitality (or aether)+cold build
Actually i heard about a soulrend build (2H weapon http://www.grimtools.com/db/search?query=soulrend&in_description=1&exact_match=0) but don’t have much info about it.

Here’s my Death Knight build that uses Cold/Vitality. I’m still trying to figure out the Devotions but the gear and skills are done.
