Need imput for my first build.

So I decided to run a Dual Wielding pistol Purifier build; fire damage. I’m finding at lvl 77 that I’m having a rather difficult time in Ultimate, which I’m assuming is my utter lack of defensive stats; though it maybe from the skills I’m using/devotion selection so far. A majority of my gear/devotion selections are based in damage and so I was hoping for imput of what I could change or toy with to give myself a little bit of an easier time while I push onward.

That’s the build; let me know what you think?

I don’t know why the dps in the link isn’t showing but I’m doing 19k when I’m fully buffed.

Well, personally i’m not a big fan of tortoise. Also imo you should try to fit rhowans crown to your devotions. Try to invest more to flame touched. Preferably max the whole thing. Both your OA and DA are terribly low. Chariot of the dead is also good if you want more OA and a decent defensive proc.

I was thinking of dropping the tortoise as it wasn’t really doing much for me in Ultimate, but I was on my way do picking up Golem’s blood. Again I think my devotions are way too offensive.

Gear is a big factor too. Your gear is not very optimized. Rhowans crown resist reduction will take care of your dps problem even if you drop some of those fire devotions. Maybe try to bind flame torrent to something better than storm spread. Like thermite mines, that would proc it more consistently. Don’t ignore searing light either. Not being hit is a nice way to avoid damage after all. I’ve even seen scales of ulcama on some gunslinger builds before.

I would try something along the lines of this: http://www.grimtools.com/calc/YVWPbPdZ

I took a few points of skill modifiers that only had 1 point and upped other main skills. The few points in Hellfire mines, ulzuin Wrath and storm spread don’t too much yet. Probably wouldn’t put any in hellfire mines anyways. Not enough chaos damage. You can back fill those skills later, especially when you get more +skills gear.

Scaling after 10/10 range expertise is poor, so back off down to ten. Bursting shots max proc % is 20 at 6/10. The added damage is ok, but better to fill that later. If you do want to keep storm spread, I’d try to get 7 to get the max proc rate and the 4th projectile.

The -fire res from aura of conviction is great, but until you can put more points in it, aura of conviction will probably help you more. It offers OA which you need more of and physical resistance which your build has zero currently. Also, the grimtool shows your weapon damage going up just by switching the point over from censure to conviction. Don’t forget you do a lot of piercing damage as well so the damage bonus from conviction isn’t wasted. Not sure how that will play out in game, but the other benefits will help more as well. The OA is big to help keep deadly aim up.

The current devotion setup should help you get a lot more OA to help with the crits. The two defensive procs healing from giants blood and wayward soul should make up for the LS from ghoul and bat procs (plus LS isn’t always consistent). You’re not really getting much else besides a small amount of LS from those two. You could make up for it by putting haunted steal on a weapon instead of both having devil Touched-ammo.

Do have to back off of torch, but it is set up to fill it next. As a range build, Hydra is awesome for the OA alone. Don’t want to skip that one…

An a previous poster said, gear could be optimized some. In ultimate, high DPS is nice, but you need to have max res pretty much across the board. You can back off bleed/aether/poison depending on areas, but safest to keep them up too. Your elemental resists are great, but the you are lacking in the other areas. Can switch up augments and gear components to fill in.

And as another poster touched on, try to keep your devotion proc off of WPS (storm spread/bursting shot) that only proc some times. Flash bang, thermite mines and Seal are up more often and thus can proc more.

Hope some of this helps or at least gives you some ideas to try out. Good luck!

So I took your idea and put them into effect. Ran around to get the 55 devo points to fill the tree out and fixed the skills for now. Got some augments and whatnot/optimized my gear the best I could right now. This is where I’m at since yesterday.

You can buy back that blue crossroad point and spend it somewhere better.
