I hope steam sales keep going and you have a steady cash flow. I’m actually curious what your plans are for the future, will we see more GD DLC’s (acts, classes, items etc.)?
Will you perhaps get a publisher again for future projects? I assume after D3 and PoE publishers are more willing to invest into aRPGs?
Welcome !
I don’t know if it is related to your work, but sometimes there is some king of lag or FPS drop I wonder if this could be optimised with a better coding.
Welcome Westfaliah! Anyone who worked on Empire Earth is a legend among game developers in my eyes (that includes both you and Bruno), so I’m more than happy you’re joining us as at the stage where GD is finally coming together, especially since you’re the one bringing us multiplayer!
Once again, welcome! And enjoy your time working at Crate and on the forums here!

Welcome to the Team Westfaliah. Of course we’ll be expecting regular tech info now on top of Zantai’s bi-weekly news updates rofl
Good too see the sales on Steam generated enough funds. Hope they’ll keep going so the team can add more goodies over time.
Indie developers don’t do publishers. Would kind of defeat the purpose of being an indie. And it would give a publisher to much say in what should be gone from the game and crap that needs to be put in a game. Not to mention Crate would lose their rights of ownership of their IP.
WoW good to see the Steam sales have brought in enough money for an additional team member. Hope it keeps going strong for more goodies in the future
Not 100% sure. But in Titan Quest there were massive frame drops when transitioning from open world areas into dungeons. This had to do with how the tiles were made and they overlapped. Very inefficient and caused additional loading of … well redundant junk basically. In Grim Dawn this has already been reduced drastically. Zantai once explained they make the shape and size of their tiles different.
Other Lag is because the game isn’t optimized yet for all the different hardware setups that exists in computerland.
I’m a little late to the welcome but, glad your working towards a game many will love.
When we have a finished Multiplayer I expect sales will increase and this is great news for all of us!
