New Design for Noktukari Quests

Everyone has surely noticed that, when farming reputation, he constantly assigns the same tasks one after another. It’s tedious and boring. I also disagree with the opinion held by many on the Steam forums that everything should only need to be done once per account.

The items the vendor offers are soulbound in my game. This means you actually have to complete the potion upgrades with every new character.

So, here is a proposal for the devs regarding the quests:

Have us complete a random task upon our first encounter with him during the campaign.

After that, have the character ask him, “What else can I do for you?” (he already does this!).

And at that point, please have him offer everything available in your quest pool as a list of options.

That way, everyone can play what they want and what they deem right, in whatever order they prefer.

It makes no sense to get Port Valbury five times in a row. Yes, I know you can decline and restart the game, but even then, you often get the same thing repeatedly, and that can’t be the solution.

What does everyone think?

First a diskussion please …

Can’t formulate an opinion on this matter. But I’d like to offer a couple of cautionary points to help drive the discussion:

  • The faction rep is among the fastest in the game. You can get to Revered status comparatively quickly.
  • The faction rewards are among the most important in the game. Particularly for those wanting to move into Ascendant mode or challenge themselves at the altar.
  • Oh, and I just tested again to be sure: you can reroll the faction quests if you start the game session.

Don’t treat this faction just like any other…

No. Formulas soulbound, but potions are shared same as for crafting recipes. You don’t need even go to Kurnhold/Ugdenbog to select potions while have Crucible.

No you don’t. Once bought and used, they’re added to your cauldron account-wide and can’t be used again. One character needs to buy them, nobody else does. The blueprints are likewise added to your blacksmith account-wide and are from then on unimportant. The only thing you get from that point on is the Awakening Orb becomes available in Kurnhold. Which is essentially irrelevant, a character will need to awaken their items once and never again, so the one trip to Noktukari on foot is much more convenient than completing multiple quests even with a faction boost.

I do not speak about the cauldron and the runeorb, i kknow how they work, the thread is about the useless order of his quests for getting the reputation. And i dont want to play like you play. I play how i will play. And if someone want to play these quests, then let him do this.

After completing all main and side quests is this the only thing wich gives you quests, which are seen at the sidebar.

Its the only thing which is endless repeatable, and i think the dev would have such a thing in the endgame, that you have something what you can do over and over again.

At the moment this could be much better. If YOU dont want to do or use this, then play what you want.

But its in game … so it could better be usefull …

Edit: and not every player is so much fast, also new players not, and not everyone plays it on ultimate or ascendend where you can get 3000 for a roughlike.

New players play in their first run very slow and want to check every part of the game, and the order of these quest is … sh …

Edit 2. the bottle upgrades are soulbound, cauldron maybe not, so if you want these bottleupgrades, you have to play it with every new char to upgrade and then you must play the quests.

So it is not useless to do his quests.

Not true. Once you’ve unlocked the Potion upgrades with one character, every subsequent character can access the upgraded Potions as well.

The German term “Seelengebunden” translates to “Soulbound.”

As you can see, the bottles and the recipes are soulbound.

Otherwise, unlocking the individual tiers (I, II, III, and IV) with this faction vendor as your reputation with the Noktukari increases would make absolutely no sense.

So stop shouting “not true.” It is true.

The mandat is not soulbound, you can use it with other chars

Again, not true. The “Soulbound” thing is irrelevant. I have multiple characters and they all have access to the upgraded potions. I’m just giving you the simple facts.

This character hasn’t even visited Noktukari, yet I have the upgraded potions:

That depends. With one character I had a very good variety of killing mobs and going into dungeons. With another, ol’ Nok had an axe to grind against killing Aetherials and Cthonians. I had those kill 200 quests almost one right after another.

I even restarted my gaming session a few times just so I would have enough mobs to kill. Great for faction rep tho. I slapped a few of those crystals in the altar for additional rep per kill. Nice to see those bosses and hero mobs awarding a ton of rep each time.

Plus, you get an Ashes per quest too, so I had a bunch on my second character because I got all those easy ones. Can’t complain about that, nope. That’s just pure goodness.

Edit

Third character had Steps and Bastion 3 times. One right after each other. No kill 200 mobs, yet. No go into another dungeon, yet. Only 1 quest to kill 8 bosses. Sometimes RNG is so dang random that it’s friggen borked to the point of repeating itself.

Yes, that’s misleading then, fine, so be it.

But it doesn’t change the fact that the repetitive quests are awful; that can be improved.

And blueprints are nearly the same. And these have not “soulbound” in the description. And there is “Always known” in red. So you know its done and for all chars.

If you never delete your saves and never level an SSF char, then you only ever need to do these quests once.

If you are a new player, or playing SSF, then you will need to do them, and they are quite tedious in that you can get the same quest multiple times, and many of the quests are essentially the same anyway - kill 200 of this or that, clear this or that dungeon.

I think rather than try to prescribe a solution, it’s best to just draw Crate’s attention to this problem. They have a way of finding quite simple tweaks that improve this kind of thing.

exactly this is my intention

Mob/quest exp (if you are not level 100), faction rep (not counting Nok’s), and of course an Ashes upon quest turn in. Other than that, 100% correct. Potion unlocks are for all characters and you only need to buy the blueprints once.
