New HUD Layout!

Random thought, more of a “heh” than a suggestion, what if the character portrait flinched and flashed red every time you took a hit? I feel one of the recurring problems with arpg’s is that it’s sometimes hard to get a feel for when you take damage.

Personally I would prefer the map position to be on the top right hand of the screen, it looks disorienting down on the bottom like that.

Everything else looks top-notch!

I like it.

Only two points :
The minimap, have the option to put it at the side of the gui, as now it really pop out.
Have the option to have the whole gui at the top of the screen instead.

And the minigun… :drool:
Is it possible to mount it on a turtle?

Lovin’ it! I do agree with the majority that the mini-map seems slightly out of place due to it’s size, HOWEVER I believe that is mainly due to the fact that I am so used to having it elsewhere - given time I am sure it will seem as if it is in the right place; after all, I already feel as though I am coming round to the placement…

Personally I don’t find the map too large at all, but then again I might be a bit of a special case since I tend to up the map size as far as it goes whenever I can. I just find there’s so much useful information there, and it’s a place to glance at once things in the main view get confusing.

It must be tough being a game designer. So many comments on this site previously about having the HUD split between top and bottom and now you have placed it all together nice and neat at the bottom and they want the minimap back up top.

My biggest worry is: Now that the clock is down at the bottom, what happens when you place the cursor in the top left corner?

Medierra, THAT’S why I love Crate so much!! You guys listen to fans’ feedback, and implement it despite all the odds with your low budget!! Man, say my HUGE thanks to your whole team! You’ve just earned a third copy order from me (when the Christmas ends and my salary comes, heh)! =)

Ah and the stationary minigun…this reminds me of my quest idea I presented earlier. Wish it was similar to it. /end of naivety, haha. =)))

Ironically enough, the hud in TQ never really gave me any trouble, dunno why. :smiley: So a revamp of the hud has never been something I was looking foward, but still…This looks rather nice! Great job! Though, I am also one of those who find the minimap to be somewhat disorienting in there, but maybe it’s because I am so used to seeing it on top of TQ.

I like the looks, with an echo to suggest what has been mentioned already…

Combine the help, social, and settings/option icons on the right of the HUD into one menu icon to compress the UI width just a bit to allow the mini map to be placed bottom right, and be a separate entity. And, maybe have the option to select Mini-map, Top-right or bottom-right to suit player preference.

That’s a very good idea. I support it! Also would definitely like the flash being stronger the more damage you are taking as in %'s of your max HP. Well, I guess I’d be actually ok to get a little blood splat on whole screen when you are seriously taking damage to know immediately you’re in grave danger.

As for the HUD, good work, it’s much better now but as many have stated, the map is somewhat distracting. Maybe it should be at very bottom right corner or top right. But anyway, still loving the new one more than the last.

Looks a lot better! That is awesome you took some of the advice on the forums and implemented them.

Just to add my idea for the map. I know the maps size and visibility are toggled so maybe you can add a choice in the options to put the map in one the four corners of the screen detached from the main hud.

As is does the map have a size toggle like in TQ? I know I used to play with map on small until I got a larger resolution monitor and could bump it up to large.

I learned with my hud moding for TQ that people play in all size resolutions and having choices/configuration is really nice.

Kind of what I had in mind, just to clean it up…

although i know many MANY people here would not agree with me, i was sort of happy with TQIT HUD. lately, i was playing using the diablo UI, don’t know if anyone tried it… but it seemed so deeply wrong in my mind that the health and energy bars were moved below, it seemed kind of strange.

nonetheless, i congratulate the devs for the effort. i know people instinctively oppose change, but it’s the results that matter. looking forward to more updates, but so far so good.

there is always room for improvement, but what would probably suit players is a choice, obviously limited to the time constraints, but at least it would offer customizable settings.

That map is no good there.

Shame to admit but every one of my characters died at least once because I was too busy looking at the skills bar and waiting for cooldown went off.

I would prefer the map in the upper right corner.
