New ingame - looking dor build help

Hey
Got the game 2 days ago and its awesome
In the last few days i made some research on which build i should play

I really really like the idea of a Dual pistols build
And this one seems like what im looking for

cant post links—i am talking about Mad Sorcerer Dual Pistols by Skorpius

I got abit overwhelmed by the skills and AP

Can someone please help me Ap/skills/devotions while leveling?
Like which skills to max first? When i should put masterys
Which devotions first, ability pointsand etc…

if this build is not updated / recomended then id like to get a smiliar build to follow by

Bottom line- i want spending more time playing then figuring out and research builds ^^

Thanks

Any 1 please??
^^

Well, i can help you by saying that dual pistol builds are not very beginner friendly. I would suggest playing something like 2h physical warder, jajaja’s saboteur, or maybe witch hunter poison caster or melee build.

Ok, you want a real help, here’s one:
You find a build you like (I see you already found it), you start to level it.
Put on caster’s items except for a gun (you are gunslinger after all aren’t you? ;-))
At level 7 put the Searing Ember component in your gun and kill shit with a Fireblast (but you still run with pistol, just hold dat fucking book in your other hand otherwise you will be short on mana all the time). At level 15 change it to Flintcore Bolts and kill shit with Greater Fireblast. At level 20 put Enchanted Flint in your Magic Book and continue killing shit with a Greater Fireblast. If you have Demolitionist in your class combo, level Flame Touched as well. Keep some other component in your weapon swap for enemies resistant to fire. I like Lightning Nova though it doesn’t really matter, poison shit or ice spike do the same - killing fire shit.
You can go this way till lvl 30-40. If you have found some nice guns - good. If not - buy some faction pistols and craft Gunslinger Talisman. Then you can try to respec to your build. If it works - good. If not - continue killing shit with a Greater Fireblast.
One common rule: if you use 2 guns, try to stack flat damage and different procs as much as possible. This means level to Brimstone and max it. It doesn’t deal any damage if there’s only 1 point in it.
If you use 2handed gun, get Kraken devotion as fast as possible, skills doesn’t really matters, just have some basics to kill shit and get more %% dmg and attack speed.

By the way, this Fireblast shit works for all classes and builds even if you end up as Cold Damage Melee monkey. All hail skill respec. All hail devotion respec.

As for devotions: you can respec them in same manner as skills (just add Aether Crystal to the cost) so it doesn’t make any big difference what you level. But try to get some active skills you have in your build as soon as possible to start leveling it.

1 more tip: don’t be afraid to use components in your items if they make your life better. If you find better item just break the old one and get the component back to place it in the new item. Or, if it’s a cheap component and you want to use this item for some other build just leave it as is in the stash.

ill look into it , thanks

thanks for the tips .
so if i understand it right , using the Fireblast thingy works good for leveling until you can actually use ur build…

this is the build i talk about , is it viable or are there better ones out there ?

what about AP , it seems most people just put them into Phsyic

It is a bit outdated but should be viable, you will need to cap resists and change in skills/devotions are needed to make it viable

Since you don’t get a lot of physique from mastery points, it’s better to put all the points in physique, with the exception of maybe some points in cunning/spirit to meet the gear requirements

hey mate i also saw this build

cant decide what i want -this poision build looks SICK!!!
but i have no idea if its a viable build for end game

this game is abit overwhelming with builds , so many out there and im lostttt

I can tell you right now that I also chose this build as my first character and it was one of the worst decisions of my Grim Dawn career. I have approximately 400 deaths with this build, it completely falls apart in Ultimate. It is very flashy and fun to play, but so are other builds and at least those can beat all game content. I had to create a new character before I could start feeling invincible.

Problems with this build…

  1. Low HP and DA. You want at least 9k HP and 2200 effective DA to not get 1-2 shot by Ultimate end-game bosses.

  2. He uses fire + lightning but has no Thermite Mines. With the massive lowered resist those up DPS significantly.

  3. His resistances are atrocious. You can get away with 60% in everything early in Ultimate if you’re tanky, but by end of Ultimate you need to have capped resists in everything except Stun resist, which you can probably get away with just 50% but should ideally be capped. This build has like 22% Aether resist and you will get one-shotted by Flesh Hulks.

  4. His character tries to alleviate defensive issues by going Dryad + Tortoise + Behemoth + Chariot as well as life steal on attack, but in practice it’s not enough. Tortoise shield is not substantial, the other heal devotions are lackluster and proc on hit and not when low life when you need them to, and life steal only works when you have a little bit of tankiness to survive getting hit once or twice to heal quickly back up. Dual guns is slowest base attack speed in the game and he has minimal gear to up it, so he can’t even attack quickly to gain his health back, and he has 0 tankiness and low DA so he’s just going to get one-shot regardless.

I’ve played a few other characters to 85 with great success and I’m still trying to wrap my head around how to salvage this character. The only successful dual-wield gun Sorcerer build I’ve seen is Ving’s Fire/Chaos build, and it only works because it’s trying to be a Pyromancer since the Chaos support on pistols is way better. And even that build requires solid MIs (Monster Infrequents, rare gear that drops from certain monsters that can have certain attributes that can take hundreds of hours to farm).

In order for an elemental Gunslinger Sorcerer to work, one would need to find a way to…

  1. Make it tanky, since you’re basically a melee character against bosses. This is difficult because outside of getting cooldown reduction on gear to spam Mirror + Blast Shield quicker, which you can’t do because you won’t be using an off-hand, Sorcerers are probably the least survivable combo in the game. Blast Shield + Maiven’s with Conversion is a must, and for Devotions I’d say both Behemoth and Targo’s Hammer are musts as well. Preferably Tree Of Life + Solemn Watcher on top of that. Probably need to take skill points out of DPS skills for 12/12 Mirror. Oleron’s Blood component is also a must for 20% reduced enemy damage.

  2. Get a solid source of healing. Again, your options are limited to devotions and life steal. With the aforementioned tankiness your life steal and devotion heals will be more useful to you though. Haunted Steel, Ghoul, and Revenant give life steal on attacks, and Tree of Life is the ultimate in devotion based healing.

  3. Lowered enemy elemental resistances. Elemental Storm or Acid Spray are a must, and you really should have Widow and Eldritch Fire as well. You’ve got no cold auto-attack support in either tree so you’ll have to accept that a third of your damage is trash.

  4. Attack speed. Gotta rely on gear for this one because you’re only getting a little bit from your masteries in Vindictive Flame and your devotions have to be devoted to lowered resists and defense. Keep in mind since dual-guns are so slow you’ll need around +150% attack speed to hit the cap, so good luck with that.

  5. Capped resists. Can’t forget about those can you? Guess you can’t go ham on attack speed gear after all unless you spend a month straight farming Cronley for Incorruptible/of Alacrity MIs. Make some gear sacrifices to get those resists up.

  6. Flat fire/lightning damage. I don’t know how you’ll have room to prioritize this, but it needs to be done.

  7. Icing on the cake, the best elemental pistols in the game arguably support Aether damage more than Elemental. I guess you can just ignore that and try to use weapons that only give +2 to Overload while other legendary pistols give +1 to entire mastery trees, or you can try working Aether damage into your build. Somehow. I mean come on, just change Arcanum Sigillis skill bonuses to be something like +2 to Flametongue Aura, +1 to all skills in Arcanist.

TL,DR: Pick a bleed warder, physical/chaos witchblade or poison witch hunter. If you insist on dual-guns, pick Pyromancer. And yes I’m bitter.

hey mate i just some cool blademaster videos and i think id like to try something like Blademaster/Witch hunter that possible solo endgame content

maybe u can link me some up to date guide for Blademaster?
this one looks very strong and fun

but i dont know the exact skills/devotions/Ability points and such that he use

The problem you are going to run into with trying to follow most builds is most of them are very item specific for people who have put alot of hours into the game and have most of the items needed. Unless you have god like rng you will find gear for other classes/builds while leveling up and there really isnt a way to mess your character up except for AP distribution (put all into physique until 50-60 and save the rest until you have found the gear you are happy with late game and you should be fine) or if you put too many points into the class mastery bars as everything else can be respecced until you are happy with the build. In conclusion just start playing and figure out what you like and change as needed as you find gear you want to use.

It should be common sense, that starting out in an ARPG with that many Items, you won’t be able to find all the gear for a decked out build just by playing 100 hours.
My first character was a 0 Physique Blademaster, inspired by Uberjager’s build. I died a lot and it was quite the grind from time to time. But after having farmed some decent gear, it worked out fine, even without the recommended items.
As pedlttmedl4u2 said, just start with a build that you find interesting and have fun with it. Gearing up needs luck and patience.

Just by looking at the first two to three pages of the Build Section, you will find more than enough input. Also take a look into the Compendium.
