New Justicar set

Can this set be BiS for a specific build?

To me, forcewave build with +… to skills

I completed this set recently, I’m building a commando (seems the logical choice with all the fire bonuses) to use it. Going with a shield because tremor seems impossible to use all the time, energy regen on a soldier is awful. But it’s only level 39 at the moment, in veteran. Already forcewave seems just a crowd control ability, the damage is lackluster at best. Will post more when I get to equip the set, should be a few days.

I think it works great on any Fire and/or Physical based build, BiS or not is debatable.
Currently using 3 pieces on my physical Warder.

I think the Forcewave bonus is some kind of joke, otherwise the melee passive bonuses are decent at least.

Forcewave itself is a joke. One of the worst skill in the entire game (imho ofc).

Nice char btw, but why all the builds in this forum skip aether resist altogether? Being able to visit the conflagration once in a while add a bit of variety to the game…

I think I will go 1h/shield commando, with heavy focus on “on block” procs, shield optimization and defense.

I made a tremor commando around the justicar set and had success with it in hardcore ultimate. It had consistently high AoE damage and was very tanky. The single target was a little iffy, but it didn’t really matter when you could facetank pretty much anything. Was able to beat every nemesis and even the mad queen pretty comfortably. I probably wouldn’t use it for farming, but it was fun to play and felt above average in power.

Trying this out rn on a test char. Struggling with constructing a decent devotion setup and getting enough cast speed. Damage (not dps because it’s slow) and survivability are superb though so it feels like it has potential.

Can you guys share some info on how you made that tremor build? I find the synergies very odd on this set. While it gives %damage to both physical and fire I don’t see how that would serve a tremor build. For a commando I’d only be insterested in temper for it. I wouldn’t make a hybrid out of this because tremor also seems to do a lot of dot damage that requires cunning. Maybe I just can’t see it.

Also the look of this set screams shield yet it is now best suited for two handed weapons. I actually wanted to make a build around the old version but this one, while it has some nice bonuses just confuses me.

Wtf? I was just toying around with a test chars and some so-so items, and this is the result:

This should have been a “defensive, 1h+shield char”, in theory…:confused:

Pro:
> Looks cool…
> Almost pure fire damage.
> -45% fire resist, -30 all resistances, 20% reduced elemental resistances (viper) and another -50% fire/lightning resist from mines (can be higher/lower ofc)
> Around 3600 OA with Fighting Spirit.
> Good all-around defense.

This set seems very good as it is now.

What is your build ?

Shit if you put a Blademaster’s Talisman there your OA will be even crazier.
Might as well go try a Commando now, what are the rings? I smell OP :stuck_out_tongue:

working on a full physical build with this set.
the fire is wasted tho:(

the issue i see with physical/fire hybrid builds is the dmg types dont go well together when it comes to -enemy resist.

unlike say if u mix fire/lightning, fire/chaos or whatever, the -resists come togther like ulzuins helm, any -elemental resist, solaels witchfire etc. the onlything that reduces both fire+physical resists is CoF, which is unavaiable to the commando. the demo tree’s -resist stuff are awkward as fk

the set itself has really great itemization tho

since offense devotion is a thing right now - fire / physical devotions are on complete opposite ends of the map too and u can’t focus on both at all

I also tested a similar FS build like ETK, but with an Infernal Brimstone.

It has good clearing speed, but bad single target DPS. It took too long to bring down Fabius for my taste.

I’ve tried this as well and it’s hard to pull off. Two handed Commando with Kraken’s, solae’s on BWC and Oleron’s on auto attack. It does ok but not what I had hoped for. Also quite squishy and flashbang dependant.

@ETK—That is some crazy OA you got there, and with very little cunning. Anything special on those “so so” greens? Rings are Devastating of Attack or something?

Sorry for the dalay.

With “so-so” i was referring to the pants. the rings and the green dagger.

Rings are both “Incorruptible/of Readiness”. I only found these two in all my time playing this damn game and then shamelessly duplicate they among all my chars via the shared stash (softcore only ofc, as hardcore would lose all its appeal). Guess that with this i’m not a “purist” anymore:D

Point is that the rings are probably not the best choice for you guys. Judicator’s Signet, for example, would be better, as i have the feeling that some resistances (aether, poison) are simply marked as “unnecessary” by the majority of the players on this forum.

The dagger has near 180% fire damage, and its fire-based, but has no atkspd.

The pants offer nothing but OA.

I have still to rework this char, but someday i will try levelling one and see how things fares.

Thank you very much for the response. I think you are on to something with this build and should post more about it one day if you would like.

What do 3600 OA crits look like anyway? any 3x numbers?

Also I am noticing that with the new changes, all that % phys and fire damage, this justicar set is getting more and more spotlight. Soo good along the resistances it gives like bleed pierce and posion. Lets you wear Chausses of Barbarros. I’m struggling with that on a build I’m making. I’d like to wear them instead of the ever present Legplates of Valor.

PS: after having found the Judicator Signets set I have also decided to dupe them for my cahracters. I was getting tired of removing and reapplying augments every time. It hurt the purist in me. Ironically after I had done this, I found another Judicators Signets set. So much for Karma lessons:)

I have just a blademaster that could easily reach 4000 OA when Fighting Spirit is on. All i can say is that, when you have reached 3000 OA, you are more or less covered, and you should try to increase it only if you can do it without sacrificing something else that is important for your build.

Empowered Legplates of Valor / Chaussis of Barbaros are easily outperformed that the new Dreeg’s Sect pants, but only if you have the luck to get a decent set of affixes.

I just completed this set yesterday…completely respecc’d my soldier/demo and man…really disappointed. First of all, forcewave is a joke. Very low damage, and even with a stun, it doesn’t really matter if it takes ten times longer to kill enemies. Anyways I tried a few different things and basically ruined my best character. He’s tanky now but kill speed is awful.

I think this set should be redesigned and forcewave should be dropped…would be a really cool set focusing on the cleave skill or maybe cadence. It’s a cool looking set, though, too bad it’s designed around one of the worst skills in the game.

Just drop forcewave and play with firestrike.

I have just experimented a bit with disregard to resistances just to see what 3600 OA looks like in practice. I have also noticed that beyond 3000 OA there is no noticeable difference in damage multipliers. No matter how much I would push it I couldn’t get more than X2.45 crits even with red numbers.

I might be wrong but it’s either a crit cap or the returns for increasing OA are so diminishing beyond this point that you just can’t get higher multipliers.
