EDIT - I jumped the gun saying it had live cello, I guess I misunderstood that they’re planning to add it for the final version but it isn’t in quite yet.
utter love it, the slow start to the music, has a wild west feel to it, but overall, this music is utter great, and way better then what I heard in the D3 open beta
got to say, the music for GD is going to rock
whoever did this music, say hi and thanks from me, as this music is really, REALLY GOOD!!!
edit, whoever did the music, I really want to shake them by the hand, as its really good!
Thanks for the positive words! We don’t have a set limit for the soundtrack, as we will just continue to make as much music as we can until we’re out of time. We’re up to about 12 tracks of music, totaling around 45 minutes currently, but we’ll have much, much more.
Ch’thon is actually a reference to Greek mythos, which is where everyone else borrowed it from.
Wikipedia - the definitive source of all knowledge
“Chthonic ( /ˈkθɒnɪk/, from Greek χθόνιος – chthonios, “in, under, or beneath the earth”, from χθών – chthōn “earth”;[1] pertaining to the Earth; earthy; subterranean) designates, or pertains to, deities or spirits of the underworld, especially in relation to Greek religion. The Greek word khthon is one of several for “earth”; it typically refers to the interior of the soil, rather than the living surface of the land (as Gaia or Ge does) or the land as territory (as khora (χώρα) does). It evokes at once abundance and the grave.”
The world just fits extremely well because in our mythos, the Ch’thonians dwell not just under the ground but basically, underneath the realms of existence in a void where they were cast by the gods.
Nice and ominous sounding and ambient at the beginning, then it really picks up around the 2:30 mark with creepy screeching sounds and drums. Me likey.
Really enjoying the new track and the other ones, which I somehow hadn’t seen before. I must admit that I had a slight worry that, considering the budget, the music would have been a bit of an afterthought (as happens so often with indie games). But I’m glad to be proven wrong, these tracks are all top quality! Really liking the style. Like GD it’s different, dark, gritty and has a great flow throughout the tracks.
Medierra, did you plan to do like in TQ : 200 or 300 quick ambiant sounds to slightly differ each entry in a new area or into a new soundtrack ? I found that awesome, and after sereval hundreds of hours of game, I still have the impression to discover new sounds or new music in the game … or a little bit less since I’ve the entire OST on my iPhone.
